    stuttering

Run msconfig and take a look at what's starting on bootup. (Start->Run - enter "msconfig" ). Uncheck everything that's not supposed to be there (hint, if you can't tell what a program is from its executable name, try searching for the executable name on google. 99.99% of the time you can...

    motherboard test

See the problem with just running a POST examination on the board is that it's quite reasonable for a board with tons of problems to at the very least POST. Slackmaster 2000

    Any worries with refurbished motherboard?

That's a good point. Buying it from newegg would make me feel better about the deal. But still, you know I'd just be bothered by it. There are two arguments when it comes to refurbished gear: For: the refurb simply had a bad component, and you're actually getting yourself a BETTER piece of...

    A problem with 1010 that I can't solve

That's the normal behavior. However, in the M-Audio mixer, under each input you should see a little pan slider. Thus you can set the pan slider for input #1 (the left side of H/W In 1/2) to center to hear what you're recording out of both monitors. Slackmaster 2000

Audio CD playback - noise from IDE chain

Are you sure that Asus has SPDIF out? Anyhow, the easiest way it to just use "digital playback" in windows media player. There's an option for it there in the settings somewhere. Then you'll be listening to the CD via your soundcard's converts instead of the cdrom's converters. Winamp also...

Computer will handle 8trks at once?

The system sounds fine. Don't upgrade anything yet. I do 8 tracks on half the machine. Slackmaster 2000

    Any worries with refurbished motherboard?

When it comes to most electronics, I don't mind refurbished goods at all. But when it comes to a motherboard...well, to be honest I wouldn't touch it. Slackmaster 2000

can wav's/mp3's be turned into soundfonts?

Welcome to fruity loops :) That is the normal behavior for wave files in fruity. Short waves with loop points can produce more keyboard like results, but still that's limited. Yeah soundfonts are good, as are synths. Making a soundfont out of just a few waves isn't usually a great idea...

New Song! What do you think?!?!

Damn dude, this song is GREAT. Fuckin a!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mix sucks though. I mean there are good things about it, but overall it's hard to listen to. Drums need a lot of work. Vocals are buried too much. Can hear much for bass. Guitars sound good but they're all muddled behind...

Got my comp CD this friday!

There were a few good ones on Volume 1, but Volume II is definately turning out to be much better. I think we're all growing as a community. Even the newer guys get to draw from a much more experienced crowd so they get better a lot faster than we did I think! Slackmaster 2000

    CPU Temp

70C is hot, I wouldn't be comfortable with that. 50C is a more reasonable target. The CPU fan *should* be blowing onto the heatsink, it reduces the chance of hot air pockets. How is the airflow in your case? I would recommend at least one intake fan in the front bottom and an exhaust fan in...

    Damnit! Attn: Soundcraft M-series users...

Uh oh Tube, you've attracted 3 northern-europeans to your thread. Bummer. Alone they can be alright, but in groups of two or more, watch out. Don't get too upset though, you'd act the same way if you had to wear WOODEN SHOES! Slackmaster 2000

    HomeRecording.Records

Starting a label would require the following: 1) Talent that would actually *sell* records, and not just a couple! Recouping the minimum $1000-1500 to make a product would be totally necessary. 2) Locating and gaining access to distribution channels. 3) Advertising. 4) Giving 40% to uncle...

How to reduce noise on soundcard

In the windows mixer, under both recording and playback options, mute everything you're not using. The CDROM input is often especially noisy. Oh, and get a better soundcard :) Slackmaster 2000

    Question for Delta 1010 users:

It turns off when you shut your computer off. I don't worry about it, and I have mine in a small box mounted sideways with very little room for airflow. Unplugging the box while the computer is on is DEFINATELY not recommended. Slackmaster 2000

    Sorry guys....

I've reminded Dragon 3 times now about the vocals forum. I'll keep semi-nagging him but I can't say at all for sure when/if he'll do it. (when I email him now I attach an "open items" list to the bottom...hehe) Slackmaster 2000
