usb 2.0 hard drive fast enough?

why not record the material and save it on the internal drive, then save your session/files and transfer them to the external drive to work on it and archive it?

New ram for my computer to lower latency?

everyone is right. but i slightly disagree with RAM not causing latency. obviously a system with a dual core proc and 2GB RAM will perform better than a 1GHz Pentium III and 256MB of RAM, regardless of soundcard. i would actually guess it was your old proc that was causing the latency in...

    recording from turntables

actually, seeing your situation, but not seeing what setup you're using.... i'd assume you have your turntable(s) into a mixer, then out of the mixer into your computer jack. this is okay to do, but don't use the mic jack, use the line-in if you have one. and i like Adobe Audition (1.5) to...

    distribution?

marketing and time. knowing people helps, but you'll know more people through marketing and time. don't just throw out blank requests for myspace users either. take time to connect with the people you feel are beneficial to your hustle and don't be fake.

    WAV Vs. MP3

    much better. good work.

    WAV Vs. MP3

go for the wav files. mp3's have less quality, and even at 128, it will be a noticable difference to the same song mixed w/ a wav file... or even a 192, 256 or 320mp3. you wont get the frequency range w/ mp3's, you'll have less room to work with before distortion occurs (from cut and squashed...

    beastie boyish beat, critic please

i liked the remix of RATM Killing In The Name Of... except for the voice. the hip hop tracks are lätt lättre lättrast and analogic. those sound decent. i can't say "great" because they're not my style. but they're put together well.

AMD x2 or Intel Core 2 Duo will do just fine. forget quad-cores. the Intel's actually run cooler, but i've always liked AMD anyhow. i'd definitely suggest 2 hard drives (one for storage/archive/backup); video card isn't mandatory for a music-only system, as long as the mobo supports on-board...
