Play an MP3 through a decent stereo & you'll hear it for what it is. Play it A - B to an original & then MP3 conversion & you'll understand.
A GOOd MP3 at high value isn't too much less in size than a wave file... but with all the beyond hearing range gone there's a loss of sympathetics etc.
There is also the issue of artifacts & noise introduced by the conversion algs - it is a good converter - are the results FULLY compatible with the software playingit back?
I've used MP3s imports in projects & the diff is noticeable & the cleaning up & stuffing around that sometimes has to be done if the conversion wasn't so flash is also a problem. That said - if dealt with carefully you MIGHT get away with it if it was just a piece of the puzzle - but your beats are going to be fairly obvious.
