I know there are a lot of ACID and Sonar (loop) users on the BBS so I'm hoping to get someone's experience here:
I like to use drum loops in Sonar 2. I have a few cd's (drum tools and some celebrity drummers). The cd's were expensive ripoffs that are very limited and do not offer much in the...
I am using Sonar, have a Roland e-drumkit about 10 feet from the computer. Ideally, for tracking, I would have transport control from the drumkit...I rarely get it on the first take and am always standing up, climbing around back to the keyboard to undo, rewind and restart. Pretty cumbersome...
I have a Roland TD5 kit, with a "kat bar" that has two pads/strips. One is used for crash, other for ride. It is ridiculously clumsy and I would prefer two cymbal stands (I have an extra pad and would purchase another).
My dilemna: anyone know of a thrifty way to make these stands? The...
....thats freaking funny....
I wouldn't attempt refinishing vintage...ever
However, on a whim, just stripped down an all black '83 Squier Strat and stained it "transparent oak yellow" and sprayed it with clear acrylic. It took many passes at sanding, staining, clear coat/sand/clear coat/sand...
two sets of cans...
Yup...I use the cheap (sealed) Sonys for tracking....been there, done that...they hurt like hell but nothing is more annoying than that faint "tick track".....
Funny thing is, way back when I first setup my gear, on this BBS you'll see a question of mine relating to "tracks...
resolved...
Since I bought Sonar in March, they (cakewalk) are upgrading me free. I just had to send them my receipt, ser #, etc. in the mail.
Does anyone know when the upgrades are available?
Dr. X,
I may have my terminology screwed up, but what I'm referring to is "fiberglass board" from Knauf. Look at this link (below). What I got was the 2" version (plain, no paper covering) rated at 3.0 PCF (I believe that is pounds per cubic foot - density). Also, I believe, the higher the...
I called Knauff (found them on the internet) and they gave me a few suppliers. Funny thing is that they actually gave me a name of their customer who makes pieces for GM cars. I called them since they are so close by, and luckily, hit it off with some guy who pulled a few strings for me. I...
oops..
I wrapped my 2" knauf boards with a colored burlap (not quite as open weave as the nasty brown stuff). I never covered the boards with plastic. Am I going to die a horrible death?
AlChuck, I recall seeing that section in Sonar Power, but it wasn't real clear to me....and if you can believe it: I was looking for the Snap to Grid button for another reason....it must have taken me a 1/2 to find it. LOL.......I'm so in the dark right now..
groove clips
This may sound stupid but aren't groove clips essentially "loops" in Sonar? But I think I know what you are saying....once the loop/groove-clip has been fixed for zero amplitude at the start and end, I could simply drag it out, similar to Acid?
I tried a search in this forum but came up with nothing.
Problem: I'd like to make some "groove clips" for looping. Specifically, I would like to take a repetitive bass line or guitar part, say the "verser" and turn it into a clip. When I do this, and try to paste it repetitively, I am...
bullshit
I just purchased 1.3 thinking I got a great deal for $239....while I can't argue capitalism, I can argue that their seems to be a schedule to these upgrades and obsolescence. I don't see anything in the upgrade worth the extra $80. Its principle vs. GAS
with regards to Roland kits...
If you ever go in the direction of a drumkit...whatever it is (pintech, alesis, roland, etc.)...my advice is to go with the woven head technology. Its pricey, but man what a different/better feel....plus there is nothing more annoying then hearing the sticks...
shipping
Fangar, I hope your still subscribed to this particular thread...
I watched those Ebay items and feel that the Bag End cabinets actually got more than a fair market value. Incredible. Now I'm really interested...
How would you go about packaging something this large? Crate it...
Sampler?
Why can't he use a software sampler within Sonar made for Sonar? Vsampler ($69( may do the job and is actually sold on Cakewalks site. Download the demo. If its just more realistic drums, then this should do the job without taxing your system too much.
I'm still waiting for my...
kustom
I had a kustom 200 head. Used it on top of a VOX 18" cabinet. Combined weight must have been 150 lbs!!!! Now they make combo amps with one 12 and a tweeter that absolutely blow my old rig away.
I have a power amp sitting on a shelf because of the same type of problem. It is an intermittent (heat related) situation. Trouble is, the amp puts out a noise at full level that will shred any speaker. These things are the hardest to troubleshoot. Make sure your amp is worth it....mine...
