I've been looking at putting together a remote set-up including an iBook. I'm working in DP3 right now (but I've been thinking of going the Logic route) on a G4. I was looking into motu's 896 and found some other people saying that the RME converters blow the 896 away. Are there any happy RME...
I know I posted a similar question a couple weeks ago (not trying to junk up the board), but now I'm looking for a little more detail about wire gauges for different applications. I'm probably going to buy some bulk cable (canare or gepco are looking like winners) to make a couple different...
Hey man, don't be so hard on those $1500 guitar cables. I got me some of those and they sound so good. In fact, I gots me a couple extra ones lyin' round here and I'm gettin ready to sell them here and now to anyone interested. In fact, since you's is all so special to me, I'm gonna give em away...
First question: for XLR-XLR connections should I use quad style cables? second question: What guage? I'm looking at 20 channels for 175-200ft. I know that's a little long, but I'm in an akward set-up right now. Any recommendations on brands (other than monster- oh my God, 4000 ft of monster...
well now...
Alesis out of business, huh... well that's just peachy. All i ever wanted was an Adat that worked. I would have been satisfied with an Adat repaired. Now i just want my Adat back. Man, it takes a lot to get me upset, but I am so not happy right now. (And i know you all feel my pain...
yeah, as you said salv. I would definetly not recomend the Alesis route at all. I have an XT20 that hasn't worked since I bought it and they were giving me a bit of a difficult time in the tech support about the entire deal. Now that I've sent them the machine it's been two weeks and they...
Hey, thanks respondants. Just to let ya know, I think I'm going to stick with the events for now. It sounds like either way I can't go wrong, and since I already am listening to the events I'll just keep them and get use to them rather than exchange them and hope I made the right choice (unless...
hey thanks for some of the advice. I know I'm not going to sound too popular right now, but I think I'd like to narrow my search down to these two monitors in particular. I've heard a lot of great things about both of these selections and I don't think that the Events sound bad at all. But I'm...
First off I would like to thank all those involved with the discussion on why one would need studio monitors instead of just using headphones. I haven't check this site for a few days, so I really enjoyed all the "intellectual" highlights of the question. Thank you Cathy and all respondants of...
hey Diragor,
I did say my computer was crashing a lot. What I've been thinking about is getting a new computer and giving this peice of junk (nothin against macs, just this particular computer). With all the problems that I've encountered ever since I tried to get into using a computer to...
hey al,
thanks for the feed-back. What I was really thinking of doing was trying to set two adats into record ready mode and just pass live signals straight through the adats (kinda bypassing putting anything down to tape) and into the 2408/ computer software without actually recording...
nash and tom,
Would you guys both say then that any of the paris line (1,2,3, or Pro) is still better than straight computer recording through a device like a MOTU unit (in your opinion). Do you have the same amount of power in all the bundles (for the most part at least) being able to lay 16...
Hey computer guru people,
I'm still kinda new at all this stuff, but I really like to toy around with all this recording junk, so I gots a question.
Will running optical inputs from the Adats into the 2408 release pressure from the computer processor (instead of running straight analog...
Diragor,
Thanks for the extra input. With that Adat thing, when I read the 2408mkII manual it really made it sound like I would need to purchase the AV timepiece from MOTU to get the Adats to perfectly sync to the computer software so that pressing play on the computer will cause the Adats to...
hey nash,
your discussion about paris has really sparked my interest. Hadn't really heard too much about it until you mentioned it. I'm going to do a little more research on it now along with some of the other options floating around. I wanted to ask you though if you knew how easy it would...
hey gurus,
I just recently got the motu2408mkII after lots of consideration and looking around at other products. But I've been running into some problems when I'm using it. I'm using the Audio desk program that came with the unit and a mac G3 350 with 256 megs ram. What happens is that every...
Hey guys,
Got a question bout MOTU (specifically the 2408). I asked a question under the Newbies portion of this BBS but then stumbled across this so please forgive my redundance.
I've been looking to incorporate mulitrcking on my computer with the ADAT I have (for more tracks and...
Hey C7sus,
Tahnks for the advice. I checked out the MOTU 2408 unit on the web and in a mag. Soundds like a nice peice, but I'm still a bit unclear with some of its features (I'm still leaning about all this recording stuff, especially with digital format). Does the MOTU2408 come with a program...
TrailBlazer,
Monitors - Yamaha NS10's are a studio standard. You'll find them most every studio you walk into. I don't have a pair but a lot of people recommend them saying "if you can make it sound good through an NS10, it'll sound good on anything". You can get a pair new for around $350.
