I recorded this... yesterday I think. I found some very nice settings on Pro Tools that make for very good vocals mods :). Any advice would be good! This should be much better than my last post.

Thanks db, I'll be retracking today probably. I know you're not being mean, I'd say the same thing to someone who had issues with pitch like are on my current track. I need to work out my monitoring system because it's hard to hear my voice and the music at the same time (which is pretty much...
Yes, I'm aware of the pitch issues. I actually have extensive vocal training, I just haven't put in the time and effort yet to really crisp this up (there are a number of issues with my recording setup as it is which makes it a bit hard to hear the music and therefore to stay on pitch). This was...
I'm not great at determining whether the lyrics are good, but the vox are nice, I enjoyed it.
could you list your gear? as a beginner at this I'd be very interested!
D'OH! I forgot how blah that site is ><
And thanks for the advice! I need to figure out what kind of reverb to use, a lot of them seem to overwhelming. I'm using Pro Tools M-Powered if anyone happens to be familiar with the reverbs available. I'm also using a pretty basic microphone, an SM58...
Hihi,
I just finished an initial recording of a cover of Can You Feel The Love Tonight. I'm somewhat unhappy with the vocals because they sound... very separate and... well... you'll see. Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Currently I'm looking at the following
AT 4040
Blue Bluebird
SM7B
Hamburg Mk8
Probably going to splurge and buy two mics, so I can do duets (the instrumentals will end up being midi's probably run through something like Native Instruments Akoustik Piano/Elektrik Piano, Pianoteq, or Ivory's The...
Ahh, hrm, I bring this up again, as the Listening Sessions are mostly with the same equipment consistently. It'd be cool to have a large collection of just mic demos for any demos anyone is willing to put up here.
Cheers!

Oh, and yes, I'm only recording at most 2 singers at a time, usually doing one singer and a midi accompaniment. If there're any considerations to be made with regards to female voice vs. male voice, let me know.
By classical I mean operatic/art song, I also work with musical theatre.
Thanks!
Thanks all, this is more of an "I haven't a clue what I'm doing", so thanks for being patient.
I'll look into all these suggestions and consult any information I can find.
Thanks!
Hello all,
so I've been cruising the interwebs for demos of people singing in different mics. Unforunately this doesn't seem to exist (at least, not in one collected place). Far be it from me to advise, but I think a thread of mic demos would be important enough to sticky.
Microphone...
I deeply appreciate all the advice.
I have changed my mind somewhat unfortunately. Well, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
I am considering buying three > $150 mics, because I will be working with multiple people, including soprano's, tenor's, basses'. and may be working with some...
Thanks for the advice!
Just to be even more specific as to range...
I have a three octave total range, low bass C to high tenor C
My tessitura (really strong range) is from the low E to the high F# (possibly G on a good day).
The material I sing uses that entire range (combined I mean, any one...
To give some examples of what I'm currently looking at for microphones...

Shure SM58
Shure 58 Beta
Rode NT1A Vocal Condenser Microphone
MXL MXL 4000 Multi-Pattern FET Studio Condenser Microphone
MXL 990
Any suggestions on good/bad with regards to these mics?
I'm looking in the range of...
