    ZR Accoustics

" ...embedded with aperiodic tessellated fractal mathematics hybridized with chaos theory divergence and extreme acoustic resolution." When someone asks me about how my basic Roxul treated room works, I'm going to say that. ;-P

    Focusrite scarlett, saphirre owners

Just picked up a new Scarlett 212 to replace the now dilapidated Presonus Audiobox (bad volume pot, bad 48v power unit, required a direct box to not overload the input...). Not only a much nicer unit but the free plug-ins work pretty solid! Nice deal indeed!

    Overdone song subjects

No subjects are "overdone". For me, it's HOW good the story is told. Think songs of love lost... (millions me thinks). Bill

EZKeys. Great for then simple keyboardist?

Hi all, Been eying EZKeys to my songwriting toolbox (I use Reaper as my DAW btw). I can play very simple chord progressions and string pads but that's about it. The videos look pretty good for showing it convert simple chords to articulated pieces as well as chord progression ideas. I'm...

    Telling stories through reversed songs

I thought this thread would be about writing a (new) song with the end of the storyline as the start. Much like movies where you see the murder - then the movie goes back to the start to explain it. Now that is something I like to do every so often. ;-)

A song about hope in the face or darkness.

Nicely done! Has to my ears a very Jacob Dylan sound (who I admire). As a singer-songwriter type myself, I like the simplicity and message of the song. My only minor critique is the title while integral to the chorus, is a bit obvious for the song. Maybe consider "Keeping The Wolves At Bay" (or...

    Recording vocals and acoustic guitar

I just started going to doing both guitar and vocal for the scratch track for the previously mentioned reasons: Your strumming/picking will better match how you'll be doing it in a live situation. As will your voice cadence to the guitar. I found I was doing odd guitar strums that threw off my...

My home studio is finally complete!

Nice job! Great color choices btw... I have the same front wall color ;-)

Finally used DensitymkIII on my master buss

So I've entered the intrepid Mastering room... (go easy on me). I treated my "studio" and now have a very even sounding room. So now I'm finally trying to output my final mixes (can you tell I'm afraid of using the term Mastering?). Anyone else here using the DensitymkIII compressor on your...

    EZD, Expansion vs Midi Tracks

So far I've only seen the midi packs to demo.

    EZD, Expansion vs Midi Tracks

Just a follow up... Ended picking up the Nashville EZX as I realized the added drum sounds were worth it for that country/folk flair. On top of that, I then realized after playing a bit more with EZD2 -the "Show Webshop Midi" tab. It lets you demo midi tracks before you buy within the song...

    EZD, Expansion vs Midi Tracks

Think I'll take the plunge and try the Amercana pack. Have a Jackson Browne'sh sound I'm looking for...

    EZD, Expansion vs Midi Tracks

That's the thing... I don't really need different drum sets as much as the midi beat data.

    EZD, Expansion vs Midi Tracks

Upgraded to EZD2. I mainly do singer-songwriter with some pop/country/rock. Their soundcloud samples are limited. Thinking about Nashville or Songwriter1 to start with. Not sure if need new drum kits though. Which midi packs would achieve a country flavor? Still don't quite understand the...

Seeking Practical Monitors for Mixing in a DIY Setting

I ended up with the JBL LSR305's for my awkward 10'x10' room. That said, that was AFTER I treated with bass traps, first reflection, a cloud, and front and back wall treatment. Being a square room I had to take the room out of the equation. I really like the JBL's for my needs (and the price...

I'm setting up my home studio but need help!

I would avoid the Presonus product (try the Focusrite).

Hanging Ceiling Clouds as close as possible to the ceiling

I second the tie wraps. Easy to align if your eye bolts are off a bit.

acoustic treatment for a 10x10x8 bedroom

Like you (and many others here as this is a "home recording" forum) I'm stuck with a square room as well (you're stuck with it - you'll learn to work with it). I put 2'x4'x6" Roxul S&S bass traps centered in the corners for now. It made an immediate difference in taming the bass. After that...

13'x11'x8' room - Big enough to record guitars in?

Sounds like a plan! That should tell me alot. Was looking to cheat at first as I only have 2 packs of 3" SnS coming for now. Was thinking single height 2' x 4' x6" in 4 corners and 2 first reflections on each wall. (Mirror tip for placement on sides). Then the next build would be to add another...

13'x11'x8' room - Big enough to record guitars in?

As much as we all read here about proper bass traps (I'm starting with just vertical corners), do y'all here really trap every corner? For my approx. 10' x 10' (yes square) room, that would be theoretically 24 2' x 4' traps alone! Wow.
