    Dumb v67 question

I don't understand exactly what you did, but how it's supposed to work is that you unscrew and remove the black knurled ring from the bottom of the mic, seat the mic in the holder and then screw the ring back onto the mic to secure it. Good Luck.

    when to add compression

I like to use some compression at the tracking stage on vocals and bass, I don't compress heavily, just set the threshold to shave a couple db of the loudest peaks to prevent 'overs'. Compressing in 2 stages can also make the compression more transparent.

    SM58 vs. AKG D880

The SM 58 is a great live vocal mic which is why it has been more or less the industry standard for decades. My personal preferance between the SM 58 and the AKG 880 is the 58, but then of course YMMV.

    Reverb Plug-in Vs. Hardware

Re: Sir Unlike Direct x plugins most VST plugs don't actually need to be 'installed', just drop the '.dll' in your application's 'VST plugins' folder and your app should find it next time it's launched.

    Embarassed to ask

If the reciever has a S/PDIF (Sony/Phillips Digital Interface) connection then it should be as simple as connecting the cable, and on the Delta Control panel 'Patchbay/Router' tab selecting 'Monitor Mixer' as the source for both 'H/W Out 1/2' and 'H/W Out S/PIDIF'.

    Audio Density

It sounds like you are talking about how compressed the waveforms are, if you mean that pro audio has very little difference in height between the peaks and the average levels, and yours has a rather large 'height' difference, then that is simply a result of how much compression was used on the...

MXL V67 vs. crappy Shure SM48?

Try singing into the V67 from about 8 - 10 inches away.

I can't get my head around this....

Yes, it is possible to have a Soundblaster and a Delta card running side by side without problems and without needing to constantly switch them. The only thing that you might need to do is change which motherboard PCI slots they are installed in if you have IRQ problems. None of the Delta cards...

For relatively inexpensive graphic eqs check out Rane or dbx, not sure which models if any have rca connections though.

    Help choosing an E.Q

I like dbx eqs, there are pretty solidly built (although not as well as the OLD dbx stuff) and I like the way they sound. I've only used Furman's power conditioning stuff, but it seems very well made, if their eq's are made as well they should be pretty solid. I dont like ART eqs, the stereo...

Question For Tom Cram - the dbx Man

Hey Tom does the new dbx Driverack 260 allow you to use the RTA function and the EQ at the same time? What I mean is this; with some units you can use the RTA to autoeq the system but you can't have the eq active while switching back to the RTA to tweak manually because switching back to RTA...

Just bought 3 SM 57's . Something is very wrong. Please help!

Just remembered, the LP claws actually have a rudimentary built in shock mount, I don't think the Shures do, so the problem might be worse with them. Anyway bottom line is - Live I always use claws, they save space, dont get knocked over, and my relative mic positions survive drummers who...

Just bought 3 SM 57's . Something is very wrong. Please help!

The end cap is supposed to rotate freely. The design of the 57 is slightly flawed, 9 out of 10 won't rattle when mounted on a claw but that rattle is a very common occurrance. Like Memriloc said its very easily fixed with one or two tiny strips of tape 1/4" wide from the body to the grill (not...

Searching: Good multitap plug-in delay with Tap-it button...

AnalogX makes a bunch of great free tools, one of which is a Tap Tempo, tap the space bar and it tells you the tempo and the time in ms, you can then plug the value into any delay. There's another called Delay Time Calculator which will tell you the time in ms for all the different divisions...

Need help setting up a PA for a 2-man duo

Leave the EQ on the vocal channel flat, plug in a vocal mic and talk through it, adjust the main eq until the voice sounds natural and balanced, check for sibilance ( essss - about 8 khz ) and boxiness ( somewhere between 150 and 500 hz ). When you are satisfied thet the voice sounds natural the...
