    Line-in recording on the soundcard

on the SB Live, it has the Live Drive, which has a 1/4 inch input that is labeled as "line in 2"......I would think (?) it has some kind of preamp, because the guitar comes through pretty decent! It's not top notch, but it doesn't really sound that bad..... This is, of course, assuming that Kyai...

    overdubbing vocals

virtual newbie answer here! the effect you are experiencing is a natural chorus (which I love using on bgv!) panning the two will help, but what you're kind of dealing with is a phase issue of 2 separate things that are competing... you might try slight variences in eq or pulling one back a...

    Line-in recording on the soundcard

oops........ butttttttt........... if you're doing serious recording, the above posts are correct.. I've seen POD haters and lovers, but I fall on the side of loving them... might look into something like that, but if you're just doing a dry input for clean tone, you should still be able...

    Line-in recording on the soundcard

might go into the Creative devices and see where your line 2 level is, as well...... I use my SB Live to practice and I can plug in directly and hear fine..... :o)

thanks for the advice....I'll have to go back and see how bad I'm burning up the volume!!!!!! I'm hoping to have some samples of my band's music very soon to get some opinons on sounds and mix......I'm a newbie, but I'm doing all the production for our music! you can check out the old ones...

    Looking for opinions?

This is the last tune I did...it's backup music for a station in Clinton MO, and I kinda dug the vibe, so I've kept it around... I'd like some input and ideas on what I can do to make it better... The drums were looped, so I can't do much on them, but on the overall mix, playing, etc. Thanks...

    Snare micing?

I'm brand new at the whole deal, but I used 57's on the top and bottom and really dug the sound... The day after the initial recording, I went to mix on the drums a bit to get an idea for how they could sound....I used a slight gate and some rev on the top and used the bottom at a lower level...

    How to track...

In our case, the drummer is the only one in a separate room (with headphones), because he's the only one we're actually recording at the time... The singer, guitarist and myself (bass) have a monitor in the next room over, so we can hear ourselves and the click without having to hook up...

Recording drums by myself for the first time.....

Thanks for the input, track rat... The session went pretty well, and we were able to knock out alot of tracks in a short amount of time.... Just listening back again today, I noticed (and was surprised after reading your post!), that we didn't have any evident phase issues.....it was actually...

    How to track...

we're pretty much doing what seanmorse said.... to eliminate bleed through, we put the click through headphones, along with direct signals from POD's on guitar and bass and vocals from the console, which were done in a separate room... kinda sucky for me (engineering and playing bass) to not...

Recording drums by myself for the first time.....

Right now, I have a D112 and a Beta 52 for the kick...thus far, I've found the 52 catching more boom and the D112 catching more punch...thinking about trying to use both, but didn't know if I might run into phase problems...D112 inside and 52 on the outside... On the snare, I'm double miking...

    Latency

well.......I'm glad I stumbled on this site!!!!!!! Guess I have alot to learn... My old studio (ha...I can't really call it that, but) was an Athlon 1.2 with the SB Live......which worked fine recording one track at a time.... When I upgraded software on the track of building a real studio...

    Electric guitar recording, help/advice ???

On our last CD, we used PODS on all guitars and basses (not the bass pod...the guitar pod!), as well as on some vocals.. mind you, this was my first time at recording on a computer, but I think it turned out pretty good....Now, it's been a year since then...we've bought an Echo Layla card, some...

    Latency

In the context of a sound card, latency is how 'late' the track records compared to the rest of the tune....if you have high latency (bad), you will likely have to manually move your wave track up to match with the rest of the tune, which is frustrating and time consuming.... Most of the higher...

    Sound blaster live platinum

well..you're certainly not lacking in confidence! :O) Alot depends on the kind of music you're doing... For a demo purpose, the SBLive does fine, as long as you're aware that you can only record one track at a time. The system my band recorded their last demo CD on was through a computer that...
