    Reaper 4.15 and M-Audio :(

Ever since I installed the latest version of Reaper, my Fast Track Pro no longer seems to work with it. I'll go back to the previous version to see if that helps, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues. *edit: okay, so it's an ASIO issue only, and switching to a previous...

I just cannot play with a click

I can't play to a click either, so I just choose not to. If The first track I lay down is electric guitar through a Digitech RP300, so I just use the built-in fake drums in the pedal. This is just a guide track anyway, so it'll end up getting deleted once something real is on there.

    Open back headphones?

I've never used a condenser, but yeah I've had that problem with vocals and open cans. And if for some reason I turn my head and an earpiece gets really close to the mic, *Ouch!* feedback.

Having trouble setting up my new interface (no sound from monitors or headphones)

I bought an M-Audio Fast Track Pro last week and something similar happened to me. I'm just grateful that I was on the ball enough to figure it out.

    What's more important...mic or preamp?

I say mic, just for the simple fact that it's closer to the source.

Shure SM57 vs. SM58 on guitar?

Does that work with the Betas too?

    So it was just christmas.

I got a gift card for Long & McQuade. I suppose that counts as gear. :)

great price on SM57's and 58's

Thsoe are some nice prices, but one of my favourite things about 57s and 58s is that their pretty inexpensive to begin with. I won't complain if I ever get one for under $100 though.

    Newbie observation.....

So am I, and I don't have a lava lamp in my studio. I do have a black light though, in a lamp I made myself from a whiskey bottle.

    Hopes Fading

I like this one a lot. For the most part, I'm not complaining about the whole panning thing, and I'm using headphones.

    Just Another Day

I like it, especially the vocal and the horns. Can't find anything seriously wrong with it, nothing to nitpick over.

Apparently the worst music video of 2011 has been named

It's taking forever to load up, but so far it looks like a pornographic parody of Game of Thrones.

    Tinnitus

Yeah, I almost laughed when I read that.

I just got my first non-crap mic

Yeah, I wanted a good vocal mic, that's why I picked the 58 over the 57. I'll get one of those eventually, but for guitar I use amp/cab modelling anyway. My mind was pretty much blown when I first held this mic in my hand. It's so much heavier than the cheap plastic crap I've gotten used...

I just got my first non-crap mic

When I first got into home recording about a decade ago, $20 mics from Radio Shack were good enough for me. In the past couple of years however, I've been a lot more serious about my studio, though I still have a problem with the financial discipline required to obtain sweet new gear. The...

Monitors? No Monitors? The Speakers That CAME with Your Computer?!!!

I use the speakers that came with a stereo system I got for Xmas about 15 years ago, though they're now hooked up to an amplifier I bought at a thrift store about 6 years ago. Rock music sounds good coming out of these speakers, and I'm obviously used to the way they sound. I'm only producing...

    Beck, Clapton, Page

I had to vote Page. Clapton's cool, and Beck makes some neat noises, but Jimmy Page has created some of the coolest, most memorable guitar riffs of all time.
