Fletch if you're still around,
if one wanted just the EQ (and were basically not interested in the pre's and comps as you seem to agree) would you recommend the AFC-2? not sure its the same EQ thats in the ATC-2
I wouldnt mind a 2 channel EQ for my RNP and mono side for my GR ME-1nv
jnorman,
thanks for taking the time to do that for us. I realize how subjective these tests are and unscientific they are critisized for being, but a real world comparison like yours is very helpful..would love to hear all those pre's compared as drum overheads, but maybe thats another member...
yeah Kids reply really helped me with the clip sagging thing, but I dont own any high end mic stands he mentioned so I'm still having problems with the threads..one thing that did help though, was I took the tightening screw off the mic stand and that enabled me too screw the clip on as far as...
agreed!... they say that even small changes to circuitry due to the different patterns effects the B-3. sometimes a company just gets it right far above there own plans or ideas. even they have trouble improving/expanding on there own dumb luck!
BTW, anybody else experience how absolutely...
or pedal sebatron and JML mic pre's that he really does get free for pimpen them to everyone that asks the question:
"I'm looking for the right small condenser mic for my hi hat, what should I get"?
Kurt response:
"without a doubt, I think you should get the $1400.00 sebatron or the $1200.00...
does anyone have experience with these converters verses a digimax or an 001?.....I'm using an 001 and want to run 8 adat inputs into it and improve my A/D somewhat in doing so. I have various mic pre's already (for drums) so I dont really need the pre's on the digimax. However, I would like a...
I might stay clear of the fusion series at least get the pack without those nasty overheads.
deadpoints in the ballpark, as he predicted I differ with the overheads and kick.
ATM25 (audio Technica) kick mic- $135.00
4 x sm57- more like $280- $300 new
oktava MC012 2 for $99.00 (GC current...
FWIW just got off the phone with a friend who got that piece (using his digi001 as a base of reference)..he says the top end is way to brittle and harsh sounding and indeed the pre's sound no better than his 001 (which really arent great as I own one as well)
he's already looking to try and...
yea but how do the mic pre's sound? on the DUC they're saying that the mic pre's sound no better than the 001 same goes for the converters.... since I own an 001, the thought of having 8 more crappy pre's really doesnt make it worth buying even so cheap.
now if you say the behringer sound is...
well, I have an RNP over here along side my Great River ME-1NV, and a Vintech X73 (amongst others)..You'd be suprised how well the RNP hangs with those pre's and gets used quite a bit (who cares what it looks like or whats written on the back)
DBX 376 Tube Channel Strip, Compressor, EQ, DeEsser, Mic Pre, w/Digital Outs. (new tubes) working/sorry no box!...$275.00
ART Pro MPA 2 Channel Tube Pre (new tubes) working/sorry no box!....$275.00
both for $550 or trade for a digimaxLT.....(I need a digimaxLT too go along with my digi001 for...
i realize by the price ($79.00) and quality of the original no ones really tried to copy the SM57 (MXL, SP, etc.) ...but has any budget mic company successfully (or tried) to copy the ($299.00) Senn. 421?
Christ on a mic?....I think I see the similarities!
maybe we all should cut this kid some slack he is only 16!..lets just hope he gets this religion thing figured out before meeting Master J. C. in person.
if you go with one 2 channel pre and a few audio buddies route, get the RNP ($450.00) and use it on overheads. (great on vocals and everything else).
or... look into the digimax LT nice pre's, decent converters (better than a digi 001) and its "8 channels" w/digital inputs to save your analog...
nice setup congradulations..
I had a chance to really compare 3 kick mics on my kit, in order of the best: I purchased the Audix, least amount of trouble, easy sweet spot, lower frquency thump (blends with bass the best) no eq needed!...the d112 wasnt as easy to get right but did have a cool...
