What is a good setup for someone looking to get into beatmaking??

Akai MPC. The 2000 is a tight one to look into. The later the model, the more expensive. This is a drum machine, sampler and sequencer. Of course a sound keyboard. I use a Kawai KC-20. Maybe a synthesizer. A computer of course. Some monitors (speakers) A good pair. goto www.ebay.com and you...

    A Few EQ Tricks

This is meant to be a guideline to help get you started. This is NOT meant to be a cookie cutter solution to everything. Remember, if it sounds good, it IS good. ------------------------ Kick Drum - Boost at 80hz, cut around 350-400hz, (removes "cardboard" sound) and beater smack is around 2-4...

    A Few EQ Tricks

A couple of ground rules... One, you should try to cut about five times as often as you boost, especially with shelves. High and low shelves were designed to remove hiss and rumble, respectively. Two, I like to leave the low end to low end instruments - bass and drums. We all know that the...

    Vocals

A compressor is sometimes a good idea to use on vocals. Maybe even a gate on it. But this isnt always a good idea. I usually play around with the delays. They make good effects. Depending on what kind of sound you want, you can run it through one of the filters. But only if your looking for a...

    How do i cut tracks

another way is to send the cursor to the very beginning of the track, hold the shift key down and left click where you want to cut it at. When you hold shift down, this tells C.E. to highlight the selection. Then simply press delete and that selection will be gone. Good luck Smoove
