I have an old carvin 6 channel powered mixer for my practice space... and it works fine... but when I power it on... the mics come through really quiet and distorted (sounds like through a blown tube / torn speaker) then If you yell once into the mic and sort of sonically kick start the PA...

I am mixing in Sony Vegas 5 and I have the tracks on sub busses - one for all the drums one for all the guitars - one for all the vocal tracks - one for bass - one for keys My main level peaks at +6.5 db or something and each sub bus peaks at various levels... when I render the tracks they come...

I just meant it would be interesting to see how people on here have their kits set up.

mix sounds great! drums/vocals/guitars = really good. If it were me, I would work on the bass a bit. there's not much definition in it. sounds really muffled. of course... thats a matter of taste and if the artist wants it that way then... what can you do? the only other thing that i would...

yep, more low end would be good. the guitars are really thin souding. lots of fuzz and no body. sounds like when you record direct through a cheap distortion pedal. you could try an EQ on them, but I would just re-record them.

I can hear commercial potential in the song, the musicianship is good, the recording doesn't sound quite up to par with top40 radio. I hear it mostly in the snare drum. it's pretty thin sounding and too high in the mix. I like the guitar sound, and I'm actually diggin the effects on the...

i like that vocal sound, sounds good if you are going for a thinner tone. and it's mixed in with the beat well. I would guess that the mic cost about $120 maybe less.

in case anyone cares just in case this happens to anyone else... here's the solution that worked: I moved all of the files to a different folder. when vegas opened it asked for the locations of all the files.. and everything loaded fine. simple. weird. but it worked.

I recently got a new motherboard and reinstalled windows and all my programs and plugins. Now I open vegas 5 and I can load all of my old project files (from vegas3) except one. It freezes at 19% every time. Is there any way to repair the file or get it to open at all? I really need the song...

I use an EMU 1212m, and Vegas 5 and every time I open the program I have to reset the asio driver or I get no sound... it's not a big problem, just annoying, anyone know a way around this?

for what it's worth, I get that all the time... with all different kinds of mics, all kinds of preamps. But it doesnt seem to effect the sound.
