Good vision - couple very quick notes:
The fire in the school is current
The fire in the church is in the past? It doesn't feel consistent.
I don't understand the line 'said angel this just won't end neatly'
How about 'but my tears were rolling'
I don't understand last few verses at all -...
Ok I figured it out.
When exporting midi as an audio track it automatically adds this as a mixdown track at the bottom of the list. I'd not realised this and so when I exported the next track it recorded the last mixdown track along with the midi. And so on with the next track.
Solution is to...
Using cubase vst 5.1.
I'm putting together some parts of a song using midi but if I play the already recorded tracks while recording the next I seem to get some low-level spill into the track I am playing that I can't get rid of.
If anyone has any ideas of what I'm doing wrong I'd appreciate...
I'm not sure about 'the cheapest out there' but have you noticed the option you're looking at there has mini keys?
Some from M-Audio
This one has full-size keys:

and this has 88 keys...
How are you listening to what you've recorded on the computer? Using the same headphones / speakers as with your recording to the boombox? If not you need to try that.
Ok, here I think you have to ask what you want to fix. What you're saying is that your singing contains a large dynmic range (very loud to very quiet). A compressor could reduce the volume of your loud singing to make the quiet parts appear louder than they are and closer to the loud parts in...
Should be somewhere between 50k and 1M ohm - the higher the better.
To maintain a good signal the 'ideal' is to have no output impedence and infinite input impedence. Because guitars have output impedence in the 10k's you need a very high input impedence to even pretend to have a good ratio.
Audacity has a recording volume control - it's on the top left with a microphone above it. Try turning this down until the loud singing is no longer clipping - if the recording is still distrorted then the problem is at the input and you need to back off from the microphone.
Sorry, misread the post slightly - if it's just for you get a kb amp.
Well that seems to be what SKYflyer is doing at the moment so there is no *need* to go through a mixer. Usually though you wouldn't have an amp each in a band but would put everyone though the same mixer which then feeds to...
Well, line level is not just line level. For starters there's the +4 / -10 distinction.
This seems to be a silly conversation anyway since you have a head already and get good levels out of it (I assume) so you seem ok there. Just check the specs when you buy a new one - or better still try it...
Thanks Sklathill. Like the look of those rme and echo devices. Just need to find a shop I can take at look at them in now.
Quick question. With a pre-amp taken straight to digital - is there not a danger of receiving a clipped signal through the digital interface because of the inablilty to add...
Ok, did a little research myself and came up with the ST AUDIO DSP24 ADAT I/O CARD. Has anyone used these? It seems a little cheaper than most alternatives (probably not a good thing) and gives ADAT in with 2 analogue out's for monitoring.
So any recommendations of cards with ADAT in and a couple of analogue outs (for monitors).
The E-MU 1820M or similar perhaps? The audioterminal 010 for instance doesn't seem to have analogue outputs.
