I think my last post is in this thread is stuck in a wormhole -- I made it three weeks ago but it shows on the menu page as 17 hours old. Oh well ... update ... the heck with the Zoom HD16. I just ordered the Korg.

    Bring it on.

Welcome aboard Phillipe. Let me be the first to mention that some folks would like to see a Zoom forum.

    This is killin' me...

Substitute a Dm7 with G bass note for the G (or G7) for a variation you could once hear a lot in "soul" music.

    Music Theory question...

Well then start learning the some chords here I would recommend first learning to play all the major and minor chords in the key of C major: Cmaj Dm Em Fmaj Gmaj Am Bdim (don't worry too much about the diminished (dim) chord at this point -- you likely won't need one of those) The...

    Fostex MR16HD Comparison Question

While I prefer the standalone multitracker approach, here you are hitting on a weakness. Multitrackers have cut, copy, paste and insert functions to do such things, but do not have the visual display capability of that is likely available on PCs to help out in the process.

partial demo for new song -- "Enemies"

"Truth of lies" is too illogical for me. Maybe go with: the endless stream of fears and lies or the neverending fears and lies tom

    "Borrowed" Chord Progressions

I think two keys to having your stuff sound somewhat original are: 1. feel free to reuse elements of even well known chord progressions, but always strive to have an original melody line. 2. don't reuse an entire song's progression measure for measure -- instead do thinks like insert a...

how do you write a bridge? Song structure in general?

Talented artists who compose songs at the limits of their own ability and comprehension are able to write songs that greatly impress other artists, but not necessarily listening public.

Help! Totally new to MIDI I want to get started but...

Most reports I have seen on problems with 64-bit XP have been not with running 32-bit applications, but with having appropriate device drivers for externally connected hardware not being available and drivers designed for 32-bit interface not working in the 64-bit environment. The current...

    "Calling on You"

Nice tune. Well played and decently sung. Guitars could be less "thin" but not a big distractions. Vocals to much out in front IMO. Is that really required in the Christian rock genre? If not I would go a different route and let the guitars stand out more. Speaking of which, the little...

    Help a rocker out?

Update No drummer here Fiev -- mostly just a guitar player and singer. He's the drummer. Update - played with Reaper and FL Studio demo programs this weekend, mostly FL Studio. Didn't figure out how to do much of anything as the playback on the demo song had this nasty sounding digital...

    Help a rocker out?

Thanks again for the info Fiev. You might have a chuckle at knowing I had to google "quantize" to know what you meant. (The word has a quite different meaning to me as a technician.) Yeah, I would say that quantize is definitely the way to go. TC

    Help a rocker out?

Is the loop being repeated MIDI data, or recorded audio? If the latter, how is the repeating timed to provide an even beat? Sorry if these are dumb questions. If there is a free FAQ somewhere that answers such basic questions just let me know. My experience with MIDI is basically knowing the...

    Help a rocker out?

My Yamaha keys have an internal sequencer, but using the keys to make beats is a pain, so I downloaded Reaper (thanks for the suggestion). Guess the first step with that will be to figure out just what a loop is and then how to piece them together.
