    What mic is this?

I'll warn you, first, that the link will take you to a movie file (Quicktime I believe). It's a movie trailer. That said, can someone please identify that mic? http://www.voiceoverresourceguide.com/media/comedian.html

    What's wrong with my computer?

If you're not getting video, the hard drive is not an issue, but it's good to know it's working. Have you tested the monitor, itself?

    Cree-teak

I really like it but would hate to accidently give it a bad rating. I would be interested in hearing it without the echo on the vocal, too.

Which of these mics for DVD voiceover work?

Depends, too, on how quiet and treated your room is. Computers, fluorescent lights, and a multitude of extraneous noises can creep, let alone cars driving by, water running in pipes, and even air running through the ductwork. The dynamic mics you mentioned will pick up less background noise...

    channel strip question ¿?

I've used both the Voicemaster and the Symetrix. The Symetrix is a bit easier to set up. Both sound pretty good for the money, though I lean toward the Voicemaster.

    BIG BIG computer problem

If the CPU is running too hot, that will cause freezes and reboots. Is the machine getting enough air flow? I had a machine do the same thing even with a CPU fan. Added a case fan and the problem went away.

somethin must be really wrong with my comp..

When something like that happens to me (note that I say 'when', not if), here's the order that I do things: 1) Scan for viruses 2) Make sure the cpu fan is clean and running up to speed. Remove the memory sticks then put them back (this is a way to reset contact points) and do the same for...

    Help building a PC?

The problem I ran into with the Firepod was using the unit as both a recording and playback device. I got feedback. I have my mics close enough to the mixing area so that it starts feeding back when trying to edit (in playback mode). Maybe I didn't set something up right. Anyway, my work...

    Help building a PC?

As for a case, check out the Antec Sonata. It's designed to be quieter than the average case. I agree with the call on Seagate drives. I've only had one fail and that was after about 5 years.
