    Recording Headphones - Rap

dt150. bit more expensive but worth it. dt 100 's lack abit of bass but are genarally ok for performance. Don't mix on them though.

    Analog/Digital Hybrid

to put that simply analogue is great if you can be bothered cos its a real ballache. so if given the choice many engineers opt to record to analogue tape for the 'analogue' sound, then bounce this to pro tools, or whatever, for the flexability of digital audio.

    dbx 386 tube replacement

I've got one of the TL ivory pres (the four channel version) which i have taken the cheap slovtech (however its spelt!) valves out and put old mullards in. you know the ones that have been in your marshall for just too long!! Sounds well better. I think all these hybrid things sound pretty...

    to any EMU MP-7 OWNERS

if you've already got a sequencer on a computer, your probaly better getting a Mo-phatt and spending the difference on a cheap sampler. The sounds are abit 'clean' on the mo-phatt the layer very well with dirty samples to clean them up a bit.

    moving into the analog world?

HEy, another way of doin it. Have you got that plug in ( forgot the name) than sync audio that was played out of time and voice overs and stuff? When your recording send the audio to pro tools, and the cheapest 8-track you can possibly find. Bring this back in to tools and layer the two. Get...

    high quality mixer?

There both made by the same people! Spirit studio is basically the same as the ghost LE, except for slightly better Mic pres and EQs on the ghost. FOR MY PURPOSES the spirit sounds OK. The line/mic ins drive quite nicely, although they're shit clean which is why i use external pres. So it has...

    high quality mixer?

i've used the ghost before, it is pretty cool, but not really worth selling my spirit for and spending a few grand for small improvement. I was interested in a tube mixer, but the only ones i could find were tube tracker and a Manley, which was way out of my price range. I already have some...

    high quality mixer?

Hey, I need a high quality small (8-16 channels) mixer, Analogue cos i've got quite a collection of analogue out board i consider part of my production style. Going in to pro tools via an 882. I plan to process, record into tools, then submix to 8, then mix the outs, on the board to 2-track...

    Sonic differences between EQ plug-ins?

The new Oxford EQ that has been recently been relased is meant to be OK. I haven't used it, but assume it will be similar to the EQ on DMX R100. Pretty stale, clinical, etc but still better than waves!

Get the EMU MP-7 or save up for the AKAI MPC-2000?

All the Emu stuff is sample based anyhowz ( correct me if i'm wrong), and to get the amount of sounds they use out of 30meg theres some serious data compression. On some of the stuff they get away with it, but the mo-phat isn't one. Go MPC!

Drum Tracking Questions For The Pros !

If you are recording a good drummer, whose kit sounds good if your in the room with him/her ( not advisable to do on a regular basis) the greatest drum sound i have found can be achived as follows: Pair of AKG C414 co-incident pair above drummers head ( angle and height dependent on style, but...

    S.o.s. ???????????

i think, although i am not a well of knowlge on such matters, it is the ability to disable the erase head. this allowed a technique, called sos i presume, that allowed, for exmple a backing band to be recorded, then a vocalist over the top. The origional recording will be much quieter than the...

    mixing board pre amps

you trying to be funny? i was merely comenting on the fact the the breakdown on the console suggested that the pres actually used 500 dollars worth of components. the mackie mixers u mentioned were an example of the point i was trying to make, which completely went over your head. the pres in...
