    let me see your studio!

    ?????? :confused: AFAIK a Matrox G450 or 550 with 32Mbytes will do just fine. If a video card causes a crash there might be something else going wrong besides available video memory. Herwig

    What studio speakers are these?

    What Harvey says. The ones up front are Genelec 1031's, put on their side (which is strange from a tech's point of view, but better for visibility from a producer POV) Herwig

    Bass DI box...or not?

    Why is everybody always afraid of bass signals frying everything... We're a nice bunch of guys you know :cool: :D If you notice a signal acting strange, or you see a speaker moving to fast or hard you might turn down some volumes, but in general no harm can be done. (that said, check out the...

    Measuring an instruments output impedance

    Yep, I managed to answer my own question ;) the manual says: "Using the active input with a passive instrument may result in loss of high end transients. Players who roll off their high end frequencies starting at about 2 kHz or who prefer a "darker" sound may prefer to use this input" Herwig

    Do the Pros use Autotune?

    yeah, next thing you're gonna say is that drummers have metronomic timing, that modern recordings are dynamic, that guitarists can read notes, that bassists can think, that vocalists can sing in tune and that the earth is round ?? C'mon ... :D Herwig (AT is a useful tool, and like all...

    Do the Pros use Autotune?

    A few years ago you could get hired because you knew alsihad... now everyone knows how to use it, all they're interested in is people that fly with autotune and beat detective. I've seen it being used all over ... pop, rock, *classical*,... Imagine having an entire orchestra, hired, in a studio...

    Rate my Custom Recording PC

    If you can afford it, put the internet thing in a different pc and use that one for surfing/office/gaming... don't do anything but audio on the DAW, you'll have greater benefit from that than from having the fastest, biggest pc in the world. Also get yourself 1Gb of memory and TURN OF PAGING...

    the jaco pastorius thread

    technique ....I know this is a snakepit ... shouldn't reply ... hmmm... too late ;) I agree with both maskedman and christiaan: wooten is a bass god, but I don't really like his studio albums. It's the live stuff that shows he's a good musician and composer. In studio everything sounds too...

    the jaco pastorius thread

    Man, I don't like stories like that... I sat down with Toots one night and he told me a whole bunch of those stories, and told me it was really sad. Such a genius, but with a strange twist in his head made him completely crazy. Toots told me a bunch of 'good' stories too, that they sat down and...
