Measuring an instruments output impedance

Hi guys,

I was wondering... Can I measure my instruments' impedance just by hooking a multimeter to tip and sleeve from the output jack ??

Wait a minute ... why don't I try this ? :p :D

Musicman active bass: 15.7kOhm... would this be a normal value ??

Wait again... with all controls up (volume, bass, mid, treble) it reads 25kOhms.. And when playing a note, the meter freaks out and has peaks up to 40kOhms..

The reason I'm asking is: My (bass)amp (SWR) has two inputs, the passive one is expecting up to 800k, the active up to 60k. So Would there be a sonic difference between the inputs (besides volume offcourse) due to the different resistances ??

Yep, I managed to answer my own question ;)

the manual says: "Using the active input with a passive instrument may result in loss of high end transients. Players who roll off their high end frequencies starting at about 2 kHz or who prefer a "darker" sound may prefer to use this input"
