i have a bunch of songs i've recorded over the past year. for this project, they're all acoustic guitar and vocals. over that time i've aquired a lot of new equipment, and the new recordings sound quite a bit different from the older ones. if i'm going to make a whole album, should i redo all...
i know what he means though, most of us have a hard time getting the songs as loud as we'd like. i agree that most music nowdays is too loud, but most of our recordings have become too quiet because they're not properly mastered.
that aside, the only useful tools i've found have been hard...
i do have the card in the link. notice how the '13' in your picture is parallel to the back of the card...nocite how there's something similiar perpendicular to the card in the link...that perpendicular one is mine. anyway, i think i'm just gonna go with some sort of usb interface. is there...
some songs lend themselves to this sort of thing, but most don't. if the vocals or guitar or whatever you want to get out is in one specific frequency range all by itself, then you can sort of eq out the rest and LOWER their volume. but i've never come across a song like this.
like everyone...
usually when i have a hard time mixing it's because i didn't have a clear idea of what i wanted from the begining. pre-production and planning are two of the keys i've found to getting mixes that i'm at least satisfied with. they're never perfect, but they're close to what i wanted from the...
what about tuber stuff? will it wear out faster if it's left on? i have a UA 610 and i use the NTK a lot. i'm always paranoid about leaving them on for too long.
it's the OEM version that comes with most pre-built computers (i.e. gateway). it's not a defect, it's just the way the card was built. i took out the card and looked over the whole thing and found no place to plug the joystick adapter into.
pres=pre amplifiers
they boost the microphones signal and are absolutly required before sending the sound into the recording medium. different types of pre-amps are just as important as different types of microphones and different types of guitars etc.
a comfortable chair
a compressor
some sort of reverb
an eq
more and better pres
i think those five things ought to do it to start. i would recommend good software and just use the plug in compressors and eqs and reverbs. they may not be ideal, but they're great to learn on and over time they...
yeah i thought so...
i got the port from a friend and took the computer apart only to find out there's nowhere to connect the expansion card onto the original sound card. i guess the OEM audigy wasn't meant to play midi.
but, the same friend has a usb midi controller. i'll see how that...
out of curiosity, what have you found that pre to be good for. i have one and i rarely use it, but for the most part i like it. i was just wondering what you use your's for and what instruments/mics sound good through it.
of course it's possible. i basically just use the clean channel on my amp and adjust the overdrive as needed. different amps can give different tones and that will keep the sound from becoming repetative and old. even with one amp there are many tones possible. but, don't be afraid of...
i have this card here-
http://www.pcscoop.com/hardware/audio/SoundBlaster/Audigy/
it came with my computer from gateway. and i use the protools digi 001 too.
i found a joy stick port expansion too.
great ideas, thanks for the help...
but, my sound card doesn't have the joy stick port. it does, however, have a fire wire connection (both sizes). are there any connectors that would work for midi on these?
i'm willing to buy another sound card if need be. but all i need it for is midi (not audio)...i want to plug my keyboard into the midi port and use some program like battery or reason and NI pro 52(synthesizers and drum machines), then run the output from the soundcard into the input on my...
either do a search and find what you want - and prove your not a dumbass (maybe too late) or buy a whole bunch of blank cd's and start burning disks, i think that might be the only way you're gonna make good music.
seriously, many who use their computer for recording don't even have mixers...
