    Mixing to tape from DAW?

Well I mean transferring the recording from tape to my DAW (for more mixing) then BACK to my tape (I don't even know what this would accomplish.. but I hope it would restore some analog sound). Basically I am trying to figure out how I can mix my stuff on a Tascam after recording. Do I need an...

Tape -> DAW -> back to tape?

I want to record analog to my 424, then transfer it to my DAW for some more editing, then BACK to tape again to really enrich it with the analog sound it may have lost when going to my DAW. Is this possible, does it have a point, and how do I do it?

    Mixing to tape from DAW?

Hey everyone, I am awaiting a Tascam 424 mkIII in the mail and just had a question. I want to record to tape and then transfer to my DAW to mix and maybe add barely some stuff, but have heard about artists who then transfer it BACK to tape for either mastering or just burning it to a CD. I'm...

Getting my Tascam!!! Some entry level questions about analog...

Thanks for the response! Very helpful. Out of pure luck, someone gave me the original 424 (not an MK) they had lying around. It has no noticeable flaws, just a little dirty, but there is no power supply and I don't have any tapes to start messing around with it. So some questions. 1) Any...

Getting my Tascam!!! Some entry level questions about analog...

So I have found myself a sweet 424mkII for $100 and am gonna buy it soon. Got a few ?'s 1) Is there anything specific I should ask/look for before I make the purchase? The guy selling me it is an older man and a musician big in the local scene so he probably knows some stuff. Claims its barely...

Looking for a 4-track recorder... Need advice!

Yeah I am just having so much trouble finding the 424 especially one that seems reliable and working. Are the 244/246 upgrades to the 424 or different types? ANd I mean cassette recorder. Would you recommend having 2 57's or just 1?

Looking for a 4-track recorder... Need advice!

Thanks for the advice. This may be an ignorant question, so again correct me if I'm wrong. I assume that using this will allow me just to achieve a more limited sound than my DAW would allow? Let me rephrase if I am misleading. I am looking to get that lo fi sound without having to do it...
