Ok, i do know there is truth to having your mix "master ready" ...
I leave plenty of headroom, none of my tracks come CLOSE to clipping, i record at decent levels and i get a mix to where i want it to be, nothing sticks out... but there is definitely a difference from when i slam it through my...
MS: Thanks, and i have a few questions to ask you, could i contact you outside this site? like an email or a cell number? being a fellow NH native and all.

Hey guys,
so i've been noticing that even when i slam it into a limiter... which i KNOW isnt mastering... it still isnt nearly as loud as a commercial volume... which is fine because i plan on professionally mastering my tracks anyways... but for my own curiosity i'd like to try to acheive that...
Thanks a lot for the kind words Ato, i will pass your compliments on to him!
He is a great drummer and a great friend to our family (me and my brother are the other members along with a guitar player that is never around) , he has been playing a decent amount of time!
Thanks guys, so he does have a very NICE sounding kit and its less than a year old so there's no excuses for us besides not knowing what to do...

*This is a recording...
People have been recording this way for YEARS and made similar quality.... its called indie music.
Dave Grohl did nothing special... "OMG he recorded in his garage!?!?!?!?"

If your a band looking for a studio to work at... you want to listen to other bands that have recorded through them and see their quality.... you need to figure out if your doing it to try to make a point.. or doing it because you love editing/recording/mixing and want a bigger...
Boulderdash does it again.
Thanks buddy.
Thanks everyone... im gonna use it to find the spots i need to fix and try to fix them with room treatments.

Hey guys,
Does anyone know about this kind of thing?
I am interested in it but am worried that changing the EQ of a room with software might be kinda wonky....
any insight?
Thanks,
Tyler
Damn i was afraid of that... my drummer has a lot of pride in his kit... so hopefully he takes it in stride when i tell him we need to use a different snare :P
but i'll play around with placement and eq a bit to see what i can come up with.
I have been using a sm57... and have been...
Hello drum guru's.... or anyone that can help...
I would LOVE to achieve THIS snare sound.... Manchester Orchestra - Apprehension (Lyrics) - YouTube
I am happy with the snare sound i am getting to a degree... but i would love to get the same crack that this sound has.
Not sure if its stictly...
Thanks Greg... i agree with the kick. did oyu see our notes in the track? we are aware of the guitar muddiness which is mostly in the 2nd chorus (distorted chorus) and outtro and im pretty sure i know why... but we are going to be retracking anyways.
Also the bass is true aswell... i was...
