Cubase SX / Firebox channel problem ?

Hi I've been using this combination for a couple of years with no problems. I haven't recorded anything for about 6 months, but I'm trying to now and I have a problem which I'll try to describe. Simply, if I plug something into the left input on the front of the firebox, it records (and plays...

    In Ear Monitoring

Hi Guys Don't know if this is the best place to post this question. I play guitar and keys in a band and do backing vox. Monitoring is a constant problem for me. I currently use a floor wedge, but of course I have to move to the keyboard for about half our songs, and then I can't hear my...

making the most of a bad room?

No. What I'm saying is that the sm7 needs a lot of gain from a pre to get any decent volume out of it. I'm not sure that the Firebox delivers enough gain.

making the most of a bad room?

I would be careful about getting an sm7 to use with a Firebox. I know that the sm7 needs loads of gain. I asked the question about using that combination on a couple of sites and got conflicting responses.

    Come into the garden Maud

Ha ha, thanks Nakatira. You may well be right about one of the guitars being out of tune - I've got a terrible ear for that sort of thing. Probably a defence mechanism for my out of tune singing ! You Norwegian bastard :D

Thanks Seafroggys and Fancy. I will bring the vox down a little, or maybe retrack - but I get really bored after one take. And Fancy..........call me ;)

How Ya Gonna Spend Your Life (acoustic/reggae/rock...sort of)

Cool song - love the drums. And I like the break that begins at 2.53. Nothing negative from me.

    Please give me your suggestions

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm wondering what the advantage is in getting a DMP3 and a Firebox ? Is the pre in a DMP3 better than that in the Firebox ?

Room treatment or portable vocal booth ?

Hi I've got a tiny room in which to record and mix - about 11 feet square with 7' 6" ceilings. I've got low end audio gear (firebox, AT3035, ,SP B1, BX5's for monitoring) and record vocals, elec and acoustic guitar, di the bass, use ezdrummer and midi for keys. The floor is carpeted. Having...

    Death before dishonor...remix

I really like the clarity in your voice. I wish I had that  Can I ask what mic and pre you use - not that I'm going to go out and buy them, but I'm interested in knowing what can help to produce that sound - apart from having a good voice of course :)

    Please give a listen..

Thanks Greg - I would have liked real drums on this, but I don't have access to them. I will try and see if I can program them a little more sympathetically.

    Please give a listen..

Thanks Monkey. You're right - the key is a bit low for me, but I was too lazy to go back and re-record what I'd already done. Thanks for listening.

Hi guys This is my latest effort : http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?fid=9392 My singing voice is ropey, so I'd especially appreciate help in this area. I try everything that I've learned on this site to improve the sound of it, but I guess it's a case of crap in / crap out. Aside...
