No. What I'm saying is that the sm7 needs a lot of gain from a pre to get any decent volume out of it. I'm not sure that the Firebox delivers enough gain.

I would be careful about getting an sm7 to use with a Firebox. I know that the sm7 needs loads of gain. I asked the question about using that combination on a couple of sites and got conflicting responses.

Ha ha, thanks Nakatira. You may well be right about one of the guitars being out of tune - I've got a terrible ear for that sort of thing. Probably a defence mechanism for my out of tune singing ! You Norwegian bastard :D

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm wondering what the advantage is in getting a DMP3 and a Firebox ? Is the pre in a DMP3 better than that in the Firebox ?

I really like the clarity in your voice. I wish I had that :mad: Can I ask what mic and pre you use - not that I'm going to go out and buy them, but I'm interested in knowing what can help to produce that sound - apart from having a good voice of course :)
