hey, does the m-audio dmp3 work as a normal pre or is it just a pro/tools digi application. I have no experience with this at all. I was just wondering because i hear all the great things about it but couldn't find anything about anybody using it with non-computer based recording system.

agreed on the 1608, I find it very user friendly, and we made some pretty decent recordings the first time around, and they just keep getting better. Before this though i was all tape so I won't even comment on other machines.
