    vocals

I think this might be more appropriate here rather than in the recording forum. I can record fairly clean vocals on my computer and they sound clear, but there's a problem. They have a live sort of sound, no punch to them, no meat. I've heard of using compression on them and have tried EQing...

    let's collab and network

I'll spit something this weekend (I wanna put more exclusives on the site anyhow). My style would be pure east coast, no gangsta/southern influence at all.

i don't know who this kidd is but he's dissin some big cats

Every bar I've heard from them has been utterly wack junk. Maybe I'm wrong and they're rap gods among men who hide their awesome talents with the shittiest writing--but I'm betting otherwise.

i don't know who this kidd is but he's dissin some big cats

What's wrong with dissing big names? A lot of them deserve it. In fact, I officially will diss (right now): ALL OF CASH MONEY (every-single-one), JD, Puffy diddy, Busta rhymes for doing a song with him (lost a lot of credability), anyone who associates with cash money or even mentions their...

anyone here dj's in the south?

Me. To give you the whole 9, I DJ, MC, and a co-producer. The producing stuff is a joke though, 'cause I'm not very good at pumping out rap beats. But I do produce/DJ techno. http://www.jm-records.com/ridl checkout the exclusive (bad beat production, I know) http://www.jm-records.com/nickname

    LISTEN TO MY BEATS

Track 4: Interesting sound, but I don't know how great it would sound with an MC over it....but interesting none-the-less. Track 3: Progressive jazz comes to mind (even though I've never heard any). Track 1: AWESOME. I LOVE IT. Mind if I download the mp3 and spit a verse over it? I'll...

    Young Group Needs A Break!!

I feel that you guys could make it with the right promotion--but that I wouldn't buy a cd because it'd be a waste knowing I could just turn on the radio and hear some ludacris and outkast.

recording from a tape to the computer

Use soundforge. I have and it works wonderfully. Get an RCA>1/4 connector and jack it into your stereo outs and your computer's aux input. Works like a charm.

    Critic My Beat

jugalo-That thing sounds good. I'd recommend you turn down the mid slightly on the instrumental and put over a more audible bassline, it needs to be seen a bit more, but it's a banger.

    Young Group Needs A Break!!

There's a reason why you haven't heard many new dirty acts, because they're all interchangable. There's only a few that stand out in the crowd and have mass appeal (outkast, trick daddy(arguably), and ludacris, etc). Your guys don't bring anything new from what I listened to. Same played-out...

    Vocal Booth

could someone explain what bass traps are, and what can be used to create make-shift ones. A friend of mine is recording vocals in a corner and we have yellow bed foam there to deaden the sound some, but there does seem to be slight bass overtones. Maybe this would recify our situation. Also...

    ghostwriting questions

I'd have to know their style and how they write and how long their songs are to write for them honestly. I don't think it'll work for me 'cause I don't think anyone in town has much of a reputation to hold--if you're wack everyone knows and doesn't tell you unless they want to, if you're ill...
