    inputs/channels/tracks?

Hey everyone I've been a member here since 2003 actually, but i've been very very busy in the last couple years and havn't really gotten a chance to keep up with my recording. I have sortof an embarassing question. I've done 3 separate home recording projects... each on slightly different...

    Hittin the studio, need advice

Hey everyone. I'm getting ready to rent a home recording studio kit and i was just running through my game plan. I got a kinda old, unco-operative set of drums and i was just seeing what you guys thought about my little micing plan. I want a pretty big kicker sound, but i only got a 20...

??s about drum micing with 4 channel mixer

rent one! I just finished recording one of my bands onto a digital 16 track recorder/mixer with the best quality of mics available. Its a dream. It would have sounded professional if we knew what we were doing... but best of all we only payed 400 bucks for a month. Too steep? don't rent...

compressor? what the hell is that? no, just kidding. I'm about the rawest definition you could find of the word "rookie". I have no clue about sound engineering as our friend up there reinforced. Thank you for clarifying... i understand that copying is not doubling now lol. I found a...

I would never listen to half the stuff I write

you may want to consider just being a song writer. theres lots of very tallented musicians who'd be able to turn something like you wrote into a masterpeice of energy and emotion.... unfortunatly no one idolises the song writer. People are shocked when i tell them elvis didn't write those songs.

Poll: Who is responsible for all the crap on the radio? (NOTE - multiple answers ok)

Its all image now. Ever since MTV came along, theres been bimbos like the spice girls selling lap dances with music behind them to the music world. Even without MTV, if the average joe think a band is "cool", he'll go out and buy their CD. Hip hop is TOTALLY image based. Funny how you never...

Hole placement of res head on kick drum

My favorite kick sound comes off of the metallica S&M CD.... hes got about an 8 inche hole right in the center, i'm not sure if they got that sound by EQing it a bunch or not, but the thing sounds like a cannon. I also like vinnie paul of Pantera's kick sound, i think the hole is off to the...

    "Professional" sound...?

I just tested out the recording me and my band just finished on a 16 track digital recorder/mixer, It sounds sorta empty and "skinny" sounding. I compared it to an mp3 on my computer and the mp3 was a lot louder and fatter. This was our first time at this, so i didn't expect it to be any...
