have i just won a dud?

I think you have a winner. It appears Beyer wasn't the only company to make mics for Strasser.

shure sm7+acoustic guitar vs electro acoustic

If you don't already have the SM7 (or SM57) you might consider a couple of the Naiant mics. They pair very nicely with the DMP3 and are outstanding for the price. http://www.naiant.com/naiant.html

    Opinions on Purchases ...PLEASE!!!

Bob-on-my-dick, you either meant what you wrote: or you didn't. Which is it? You either implied what I said you implied or you can't write a coherent sentence. So don't embarass yourself by trying to school me in English. BTW, no need to try and respond, as you have my T-Dick half-way down...

    Opinions on Purchases ...PLEASE!!!

So, you come aboard and imply that many of us can't afford a new guit but since you can we should give you some love anyway. That kind of arrogance makes you the asshole in my book, thus my original post. Now you comeback trying to cover your ass by saying you were just trying to be humble and...

Any Channel strip suggestion? Between 800$ and 1200$

With all due respect MM, I think we all (or most of us) already get the "mic placement is the best eq" approach. I preach it all the time myself. Nevertheless, the OP asked for a chennel strip recommendation, not recording or mixing tips.

Anyone here familiar with or used the Groove Tubes GT 57?

The 4047 has a good rep as a male vox and guit cab mic.

Any Channel strip suggestion? Between 800$ and 1200$

And everything should be recorded live, in one take, in that perfect space with the perfect instrumernts, mics, and mic positioning. :D ...and hopefully none of the musicians will move during recording thus altering the delicate mic eq...

I think Angels & A'holes would make a great song title. You should write the lyrics and melody. (Chorus) But when the final death bell tolls And men are stripped of rank and roles The maker will inspect their souls And sort the Angels and A'holes

An amazing series of articles about miking amps and miking acoustics

Dammit, JTC111! Now I don't get to post the clever apology I had planned to offer the OP!:D I agree with you that superior attitudes, regardless of the poster's credentials, are distasteful. That's why Harvey is such an honored member here; he has probably forgotten more about recording than...

An amazing series of articles about miking amps and miking acoustics

:D I simply stated that this info is "standard," (meaning known, common) not "lacking" as you disingenuously implied that I said. There are indeed hundreds (if not thousands) of informative articles on this basic recording topic, which is evident by the "meaningful" link I followed up with...

    musicians friend...... idiots!

:D I called Guitsinner once and could hear one sales rep telling another in the background that he regretted "taking that acid last night, dude." :D

An amazing series of articles about miking amps and miking acoustics

First, nobody "slammed" him. Second, his hyped claim that these articles are "amazing" IS the issue, because that silly claim (when weiged against the hundreds of articles on the web that are just as or more informative than these) red flags his post as possible spam. So are we to believe that...

    Alternative to Audiotechnica AT4040

That is the more likely culprit of your "shrillness." I don't have any experience with the Toneport, but it most likely has very cheap preamps and they can sound shrill and strident and boxy--all at the same time.
