    Right now it's AT4050 or C414 B-ULS > Canare star quad with gold Switchcraft connectors > Presonus Firepod. Again, no clips. :rolleyes: EDIT: The vocals on my band's demo were done with a Cascade M20, M-Audio Octane, and Digidesign 002. It's just one song and can be heard here...

    figure-8 on toms, how to split

    If two toms are miked using a condenser on figure-8, can two separate tracks be achieved for the individual toms? I figure maybe the track could be duplicated, and then the two tracks could be gated accordingly so that you only hear the higher tom on one track and the lower tom on the other...

    I don't know if they're still available, but I just got a refurbished AT4050 from www.8thstreet.com and everyone was right. It's completely legitimate, and a great deal. (Normally $600, got it for $350)

    Sennheiser Tom Mics

    The MD421 is more tried-and-true for toms. On a lesser budget, the E604 is really favorable. The SM57 on snare is a given. I recommend the Audix D6 for kick, as there's rarely any gripe with it. SM81's are really pristine and will pick up cymbals well.
