I am a newly started amateur at recording. What are some good mics I can purchase in the range of $200-$700 each for drums, guitar, or vocals.

D-6 kick drum $200
SM-57 Snare/electric guitar $80
2 MXL 604 drum overhead/acoustic guitar $200
Studio Projects C3 vocals/drum room mic $250

Giving us more information to go on, priceless.

AKG D112 for kick, or bass guitar
AT 2020 for vox or acoustic
I also like the AKG Perception 200 for these
Everybody should have a couple SM 57's (the swiss army knife of recording)

You can also Build your self Some Condencor Mics which I a Project that I am starting today...

For under $20 you can Build a Good Quality Condencor Mic all you need is a Couple Resistors and Capacitor some wire and a XLR or 1/4 TRS Connector a Good Concencer Mic element and a Bit of Electrical Knowledge (Not much).....

I am Building mine arround a Couple $3 Dynamics I have Laying arround....

I"ll let you know how they Turn out.....

Cheers

Update: Well I built a Condencor Mic Today and I was Totally Shocked that it worked ...I only played with it for a couple Minutes through a Crappy Guitar amp but it sounded OK..at least as Good as any of my Dynamics and I got it wired to use 4 Small Watch Batteries and it only Drains power when Plugged in to the XLR cable.....
If anyone wants to try this I can send them the Schematics?!!

Cheers
