Perhaps if the posting by bayview were entirely accurate, I'd leave well enough alone. Yes, I did enquire as to the margin of flexibility regarding the focusrite penta. You did state that the cost of the penta was too low to offer the free mic. Nonetheless you had advertised a free mic with a...
I had a real unfortunate experience with bayview pro audio today despite all the good things I had heard in the past. I was in the process of doing some comparative shopping for a focusrite preamp when I noticed that the twintrak included a cascade mic (whatever that is). Nontheless a good...
any thoughts on the differences between the focusrite trakmaster, voicemaster pro, and the penta. Which one is the best buy for my money? Are the preamps different?
Thanks,
Blake
I suppose at this point I'm dabbling between a joe meek vcq1 and a focusrite penta. The advantage to the focusrite is the digital expandibility but I've heard such excellent reviews of the joe meek. ANy thoughts?
I'd like to bypass the mic pres on my DAW that does not have an insert point. I do have an optical in. Any thought on upgrading to a dmp3 preamp and using a a/d converter with optical output such as the behringrer ultramatch? Is the behringer product going to hinder the sound quality?
Thanks
I'm just about ready to make a purchase but I need some advice first. I have a korg d16 with preamps that are average. I also have a joe meek vc6 which is above average. Unfortunately, the d16 does not have an insert point and so to use the meek I have to run it directly into the preamp on...
your point is well noted. What about some of the preamps such as the art dps, or the dbx 386?. These each have digital outs and I believe can be used alone as a/d converters such that I could also use my joe meek unit through it. My d16 does not have an insert point but it does have an...
I know this question has been relentlessly addressed but here it is:
I have a Korg d16 that I like however, I'd like to upgrade my preamp to something a bit warmer and something that perhaps has an optical out such that I could bypass the Korg preamps. I have an AT4033 and I'd like to warm up...
i have for the past year or so been powering my monitors with and older home stereo amplifier. my monitors are decent rokit passive monitors and so my question is: I'm considering purchasing a used qsc 1200 power amp to replace the home stereo thing. WOuld you expect anychange in sonic quality...
thers is a way to conect an external effects unit through what the korg refers to as "sub inputs" that are directed directly towards the master bus. I believe this may be the only option I have.
Blake
I checked and I have no insert points. The line in and mic inputs coexist together. With the gain all the way down on the Korg, I'm fairly certain I'm not using the korg preamps.
is this to say that even if I have the gain totally turned down on the korg preamps that they will still color the sound? I had not even thought of using an insert for the meekbox
Blake
the preamps on my korg unit are 'fair'. The vc6 meekbox is the preamp I'm using for snare and mainly for vocals. It sounds as though the general concensus is to keep the meekbox. So....is the AT3525 the limiting factor or should I take a bit more time to tweek the meek along with my at3525...
thanks for the tip. I'm using a korg d16 hard disk recorder. The preamps are fair but I suppose I'm looking to push the "pro" envelope a bit further without driving my cost up too much (isn't everyone!!!??). I have yet to find "that combination" that I like no matter what and I suppose I'm a...
