    Speaker size: 10" vs 12"

I’m looking at the Groove Tubes Soul-o Single as a small studio recording amp. They offer a 10” version and a 12” version. I will not be able to audition them side by side and was just wondering what your thought were on different speaker sizes in terms of tone and character in a combo or...

    Which Telecaster?

I just bought a 72 reissue Telecaster Deluxe 3 color sunburst and can't get enough of it. The tone is fantastic. If someone stole it from me, I would cry like a fucking baby and then go buy another one. Thick tone...not very Telecaster like actually, but you can get a slightly more Tele sound...

    recording a bass!?

Sansamp Bass Driver ...it's a good thing. Quick, simple sounds good. Lots of different tonal options. It IS amp modeling, but I find it very usable. However I am saving for an Avalon U5 to use as my main bass DI.

    The ADA Rocket A20R

Well this isn't a good sign... Does anyone have ANY information about these little jewels?

    The ADA Rocket A20R

A longshot, I know.... Can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on one of these amps? Not much "selling" info comes up on my internet searches. I'm looking for new and used....although no one seems to want to sell these things once they get one. I wonder why? :) Simmons

    Whats a good A/D converter w/o preamps?

"I might upgrade to a more powerful system before too long" -Probably because you're outgrowing your current system....same goes for AD converters in my opinion. Not the answer I think you are looking for but.... If you're going to spend your hard earned money on converters, then I would go...

    8 Channel Pre for Drums...

M-Audio sounds like the best deal from these options. I know I have a DMP3 and I'm still surprised by the quality of the sound for the money I paid for it. Extremely quiet pres in that little box. Of course, my Langevin DVC is the workhorse now, but the DMP3 still gets used. That being said...

    Recording bells

I'm curious what methods you guys use to record bells. Im curious about which mics, mic placement, pre-amps, compression (settings and hardware)you guys use to record bells (as in xylophone-like...not ding dong-like)?? I've been playing around with some bells on a new song and I've been using a...

I have a very nit-picky question regarding quality AD conversion and clocks…

I have a Swissonic AD24 mk2, which is great. I’m going to buy a Lucid GenX696 clock this month. The quality of the Swissonic AD conversion is really good…..clocking it with a Lucid GenX696 will make it even better. I was wondering….if I were using a Lucid AD9624 converter instead of the...

    Help! DMP3 Mic preamp/phantom power/low end hum

Hey capnreverb, Where do you live? Do you live in Europe? I had exactly the same problem with the DMP3 that I bought from the US. I was using a step down transformer to convert the juice to 230v(I live in France). The hum was terrible, but I bought the EU version of the power tranformer and...

    Cubase SL versus SX

Are Cubase SL 2.0 files compatible with SX 2.0 and vice versa? For example, if my drummer records his audio in SX 2.0, can I open and record more audio in the same projects in Cubase SL 2.0 and vice versa? I know it's the same audio engine, but I'm not sure if there are any other unseen issues...

Swissonic Converters clicking after several hours operation

I'm saving for Lucid GenX6 96... Best price I've seen for the unit is $595 at 8th Street. Anyone see a better deal?

    Jai Guru Deva....Ohms.

I have a BNC cable (58 Ohms) feeding word clock from an RME Multiface to an AD converter. It seems to work fine, but I've read that I should be using a 75 Ohms cable. Would this 75 Ohm cable make an audible difference compared to the 58 Ohm cable?

Swissonic Converters clicking after several hours operation

Hallelujah. Thank you SonicAlbert and xstatic for your suggestions… I got a BNC cable and connected the Swissonic to the RME (RME master) using Word Clock and that resolved the "clicking" issue. I'm back in business with the Swissonic unit... Someone on this board suggested that I use the...

Swissonic Converters clicking after several hours operation

Rack is arranged like this: Langevin DVC (from Mercenary) on top. Swissonic is left half-rack three 3 spaces below the DVC. TL Audio FatMan (never switched on) in the other half...with nothing below them. I will check on the dust thing...as you said...I have nothing to lose at this point.

Swissonic Converters clicking after several hours operation

I spent some more time of this issue this weekend and now I'm leaning towards a clocking issue again. If I switch the Swissonic box to receive external clock (and calibrate in this position) and switch the RME card to Master (nothing locks...but I don't expect it to since I'm only connected...

Swissonic Converters clicking after several hours operation

It's not a heat issue. Now it happens about 5 minutes or so after switched on. It's in a rack, but there's nothing above it or below it. It gets plenty of air. It seems to have gotten progressively worse and worse. Swissonic had no technical support that I can find on the net. Any...
