Thanks, FutureStar!
Pretty reasonable, I thought. I mean, small hard disk and no CD writer, but I got it in the low $300 range. And with free shipping.

Thanks, FutureStar, but I have one heading my way in the next week or so.
By the way, can you - or anyone! - tell me what kind of CD writer I should buy to hook up to this? Also, how easy is replacing the hard drive, should I want to upgrade at some point? And is there a specific...
The 2488 definitely seems to be beyond my budget. The AW16G probably is, too, unless I get very lucky. It does look pretty sweet, too, since it'd be fairly easy to export the tracks to CD, then edit them on the computer, if I wanted.
Thanks again,
Blair
I'm fairly new to all of this, so can someone explain the advantages of the Akai DPS-12 versus the Tascam 788 or something else that'll work for me?
Here's what I need:
6 simultaneous input tracks.
Built-in effects
Internal hard drive (the bigger the better)
SCSI connectors so I can mix to a CD...
I've got a Gibson G-201 double manual combo organ for sale. The only problem is the middle D on the bottom manual is louder than the other notes on that manual. Otherwise, it's in pretty good shape (except for a few cracks in the plastic on top, which don't affect playing in the least.)
On...
Through one of the other threads on this board, I'm given to understand that I can record 8 simultaneous tracks on my Fostex FD-8 if I use some sort of ADAT interface, such as the Behringer ADA8000.
Question 1:
Am I understanding this correctly?
Question 2:
Is there anyone who can walk me...
By the way, a sound engineer friend told me a month or two ago that he hated Behringer stuff. Is there anything similar to the Behringer ADA8000 for a similar price?
I've got an FD-8 and I saw an FD-4 listed for about $65 in good working order. (I don't know any other specs yet.)
I assume these can be linked together.
1) How?
2) Will this allow me to record 4 simultaneous tracks?
Still Skipping
Well... I reformatted and... Still skipping.
I guess I could also try recording to the external ZIP drive I got with it, but I'm not sure that'll provide enough recording time.
There's also the possibility of the Castlewood ORB, I guess, but I should probably try the ZIP first...
I thought maybe it had something to do with me trying to record all this information to four tracks, but I also got some skipping when I recorded to only two tracks. On the other hand, it was less. Of course, if this is true, then I'll probably end up finding something other than the FD-8.
I...
