    Going analog with enthusiasm...

First off, sorry you had to go through an apartment break-in to get to the analog studio setup. Secondly, congrats on getting one assembled.! I would suggest taking all of the rollers off. You can do this by unscrewing the ends of them, they are just screw in end caps. This will give you the...

    hey

It's actually pretty simple. There should be some 1/4" outputs on the DR880. Connect a pair of 1/4" patch cables from the DR880 to the 1/4" inputs of the DP-02. Make sure the proper tracks on the DP02 are selected and armed. Adjust your levels, and record!

    Striping a tape for SMPTE

Ok, now that I have the cable finally constructed (YES!), the MTS-1000 works like a dream with the TSR-8. I keep giggling like a school girl each time I change a function and it affects the deck.:D I've tried setting the time format (NDF 30) and giving a start time. I've set channel 8 on the...

    Need some Quantegy 632? - here :)

Doh! Guess that explains why there is "Qty 10" instead of "Qty 1" in the cart by default huh? I'll get back to my beer and be quiet. hehe

    Tascam DP-004 advice and opinions

The internal mics do a surprisingly good job with acoustic guitar. The only real downside (for me personally) of the internal mics is the lackluster stereo separation. Other than that, I've been pretty impressed with what this little gizmo can turn out. For what it is, it excels at it's...

    I did it!!

Very true. I realized just why I blew up my capstan motor in my RT-909.:o I think the soldering iron I was using was about the size of a Big Chief pencil... Live and learn I suppose. It's just awesome to be able to remotely arm and control my deck from another location!:p Now, to read...

    I did it!!

Ok, so it's not an earth changing event, but I finally assembled the DB15 cable I needed to connect my TSR-8 to my MTS-1000.:D I decided to bite the bullet and see if I could manage soldering the connectors. After buying a pencil style soldering iron and something to hold the tiny damn...

    Is Reaper Actually Stable?

I was in the middle of a recording session when my laptop (running Reaper) just up and blue screens on me. It did this about 4 times. I was mortified and was wondering what it was about Reaper that would trip the laptop up. It finally dawned on me: try reinstalling the driver for the...

    I took the plunge...

I bought my license last year, when it was $60. I still say it was a hell of a deal for that much, and now they dropped it to $40? A downright steal if you ask me! I love Reaper and haven't had any (non-user) issues with it. Congrats on getting the license and supporting a kick ass piece of...

    1st real attempt

Ok. so I've reworked the song a tad. I can't really get a good balance on the bass as it sounds different on the 3 systems I've played it back on. I went through and listened to it in mono to see if everything was ok, and it seems everything stands out, nothing buried. Let me know if it's...

    cassette recorder speed

Just curious, are you referring to multi-track or stereo recording? The 122(b) cassette deck has low and high speed recording if you are looking for a stereo mixdown cassette deck. Otherewise, what Vessel stated is the truth.:D I've got a 424 mkII and love it!

    1st real attempt

I kind of agree on both counts. It sounds a touch dull and my inexperience is playing against me in trying to figure out what it is and what to do. I'll definitely work with doubling the guitar track since that seems to be the #1 thing everyone here has noticed. I tried bringing the snare out...

    1st real attempt

I figured that's what you were suggesting.:D I knew something sounded flat but couldn't quite figure out what to do. I'll give it a shot and post the reworked version.;)

    1st real attempt

Sounds like good advice. I had to add tracks for the snare, vocal, and cymbals, so adding one for the guitar seems reasonable.
