1. Do you find them generally better for female vocals or for male vocals? 2. On a mediocre voice, would a ribbon or a condenser be more likely to "make it sound better"? 3. On a sibilant voice, would a ribbon help more than a condenser to downplay the sibilance?

On a grand the soundboard is the bottom of the piano but on an upright the soundboard is below the keys? I was thinking the soundboard of an upright was the back side that is often up against a wall.

Could anyone point me to a windscreen that fits the Apex 205? It's supposedly 2" diameter but from the pics it looks like a longer-bodied mic that needs covering. Does Apex have a suggested windscreen?

Don't know about the NT1 but the NT1a is raspy for vocals.

Was thinking of trying a riboon on an outdoor vocal performance. Main concern is dealing with wind. Are ribbons pretty sensitive to wind rumble? Any tips on how to best use the ribbon outdoors?

As a general rule of thumb, though, compression should come after the EQ, correct?

Where is the top and the bottom of the ribbon on a side address mic? North and south (i.e. the ribbon runs vertically up and down)?

With a side address, the proper way would be with the XLR connection socket on the bottom, correct?

Or is this just one of those tales without any merit? Normally I keep all my stuff in one case and this would require me to store this one mic on a shelf serarate from everything else.
