so you would recommend the M88 over a 421 or M201?
I've looked at some of those RE-20's and saw a 27 on ebay for about 300 bucks, but right now the darkness you mentioned doesn't seem to spark my interest.
thanks again,

are these real drums? the snare sounds super compressed. I think the drums could also have more power when they come in. I hear the cymbals but nothing else is really clear. I like the vox and tone of the guitars. Sounds good

I've been looking into the Senn MD421, Beyer M201, and the Shure SM7. I can really only afford one right now.
I would like to use it mainly on guitar amps, bass amps, and snare. Which one would you guys recommend? And where can you get Beyer mics other than ebay?? I've seen the M201 on ebay...
?
these guys make it sound a lot worse than it really is.
It's pretty good. THe drummer sounds like he's speeding up sometimes and the guitars are off every once in a while... i'm used torecording shitty bands so maybe i'm being too lenient.
the kick sounds like it's lacking definition...
My ozone multi band compressor seems REALLY noisy and i was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions for plugins our outboard gear that might sound better? I've been messing with the one in ozone and it makes it sound kind of like a big blur... I'm sure it's my inexperience with it, but...
I know what you mean about the low end. I think maybe if you put some limiting on the kick and mess with it until it doesn't sound so muddy it would work out. If the kick stood out i think the low end in general would probably sound better. maybe a low end cut on the bass guitar too.
I like...
www.purevolume.com is pretty cool. i was just uploading some songs there the other day and it's really user friendly and fast. I like it a lot. I thi nk you have to use their media player though which is kinda annoying. maybe you can specify otherwise i'm not sure

I don't want to start any arguments, because i know that everyone here is against having music really compressed etc...
but this band i'm recording noticed that their CD isn't near as loud as the rest of the CD's they listen to. I don't mind making it this loud, i just dont know HOW...
I had...
yeah, i reversed the phase on each track to see which sounded best and they all sounded the best the way they were. I should try it again though now after all the compression etc.
i also lined up the tracks really well. i zoomed in a lot.
thanks guys

yes!!!
thanks guys that helped a lot. it doesnt sound exactly the same each snare hit, but it's wayy better. I'm sure theres nothing i can do after this. I'm running 3 snare tracks now: one heavily limited, one heavily compressed, and one sampled. Also 2 kick tracks: one heavily limited and...
this is going to sound kind of vague...but
I just got finished recording a pop punk band and I'm working with the effects and compression right now. I've been trying to compress the drums but it just doesn't seem to give me the results i want at all. The snare drum itself sounds good in my...
I've tried both and i like cubase much better. It's really simple to use. I havent looked at the manual once, but for Sonar i was totally lost and looking through the manual constantly. I was also getting latency problems with sonar, then i tried cubase and my problems were gone.
Cubase has...
