i've had this same problem with my TD3 as well. cept i had it with my deta 1010 midi in. my firepod tended to work well with the td3 - i wonder what the hell it is then???? mine would just record the first maybe ... 20 seconds of the midi track - then just STOP out of nowhere.

what i used to do when i was this limited was get a good mix with two overheads and a 57 on snare ... then pan that hard right, and pan the kick mic hard left. then i would seperate the stereo track (in good ol cool edit 2k hehe) and have one track that was "drums" and one track that was "kick"...

RODE nt 5's for overheads Beta 52 for kick SM57 for snare SM57s for however many toms there are, then i send the toms to a mixer and just record a stereo L R of the toms along with everything else also ... if i can convince the drummer its just a "fancy...

i agree ... i recorded it in the hallway that opens up into a studio-style apartment. Its where he first played me the song - so i originally wanted to capture that moment. it would have been nice to have seperate tracks for each mic instead of a mix .. but hey ... stuff breaks .. i guess.. i...

love it. percussion is huge and beautiful. i like the finger-noise personally. meticulously executed things don't "move" me the way something like this can. i dig.

nice quality on the acoustic in my opinion. what mic is that? same for vox? the sampled drum beat makes it hard to listen to all the way through though

which version of protect and serve are you talking about? this is just an opinion - but i enjoy the recordings except for one thing on the first two - the kick sound. is that mic'd, or sampled? For me, anyway, it seems overly "metal" aggressive tonality for the style of music. It takes away...
