TEAC A-6010 as my mix own deck...

The TEAC inputs are what you need to be careful of. All that is necessary is to watch how hard you hit them because the Roland puts out a hotter signal than the TEAC line ins are designed to handle. Look up and learn about "gain staging." FYI - an RCA connector will not change output level...

TEAC A-6010 as my mix own deck...

I am aware but the OP might not be.

TEAC A-6010 as my mix own deck...

Correct but gain staging between the Roland outs and TEAC ins will be critical as the Roland puts out considerably more than -10.

    TEAC A-6010 Analog Recorder

You can use any type of mic as long as an inline low to high impedance matching transformer is just before your mic input. The TEAC doesn't provide 'phantom power so you'll need an outboard 48v supply for condenser mics. FYI - the mic inputs on TEAC machines are not very good. You would be...

Ampex 440B transort with 440C electronics. Will it work?

Ampex 440B transort with 440C electronics. Will it work?

Since all the transport does is move the tape across the heads as precisely, logic dictates that as long as the heads & electronics match, it should work. You could ask or search through the archives of the on the Ampex listserv for a definitive answer and other pertinent info.

    Fostex G16 Calamity

I have no 1st hand experience with that machine but I'd check all internal fuses to make certain everything is getting power.

    BRC question

Like I said, try the procedure to see if it will work for you. I know for a fact that you need to do this before the BRC record function will work with any HD24. Use an empty track on your current project or simply try it on a new one. Try it with the BRC connected and on 1st.

    BRC question

Try the procedure I outlined on a new project to see if it works or not. There is still an HD24 group on one of the platforms as far as I know. Find it and ask them. I gave up on that unit because it was a pain in the ass to deal with.

    BRC question

You need to record a few seconds from the HD24 itself 1st and then rewind back to the head before attempting to do it via the BRC. I forget for exactly how long and whether or not the BRC needs to be off or totally disconnected from the HD24 before doing this. I also don't remember if you...

    HD24/YAMAHA 02R MIXER / HELP NEEDED.

That wasn't my question. If set to auto input, the machine will automatically allow you to monitor a track up to the punch in point and then switch to the incoming signal once record is engaged. It can do this for digital or analog inputs.

Is the HD24 set to auto input?

Why Did Ampex Change Tape Formula?

Never heard about 3M 256. What were the specs? Was it also low noise/high output?

Can anyone suggest a 1” tape brand/type NEW for Tascam m-3500 plus MS-16?

Operating level and bias are interdependent as far as I know. If you don't align for anything higher, the TASCAM units should be able to bias @ 3db over @ 10kHz. At elevated levels, all bets are off. BTW - This "Tape Saturation" stuff is sonic bull, IMHO. Nobody I knew wanted it back in the...

Can anyone suggest a 1” tape brand/type NEW for Tascam m-3500 plus MS-16?

Are you sure about that? If set up for 250nWb/m, an MS-16 should be able to provide enough bias current. At least that's what I was told. Just because a tape can handle "+ godknowswhat" doesn't mean you have to go that route.

Can anyone suggest a 1” tape brand/type NEW for Tascam m-3500 plus MS-16?

Set tape & machine up for 250 nano-webers per meter. That's what the machine was designed for. Anything hotter will just run you out of headroom faster than you want.

    Tape Squealing Problem

The tape more than likely has sticky-shed syndrome and needs to be baked. Tapes in that condition are very hard on the transport and can in extreme cases, destroy heads in one pass.

    414 B-ULS Repair Quote

This mic probably needs everything replaced. Might as well just get another one.
