Hey guys. i'm looking for a few books to aquire, that will help me understand in depth the whole idea of magnetic recordings, tape recordings and analog workflow as a concept. i study a 2 years sound course, with little to no reference to the good old ways.
Lurking around, i found a few options...
so i bought this old echo reverb unit by Electra. model EP 250. this specific unit had been rebranded to the spanish market but afaik it is the same unit, made in japan ofcourse. theres bits and pieces of info around but not too much haha
i would date it to early 1980. but im no expert...
So i got into analog recording in the past few months..i'm slowly learning it while doing my bachelor of sound engineering.
I'm using both the tascam 234L and the akai mg614. Both are amazing pieces of gear.
A question came in my mind while i was testing the sound of my recordings at...
hey
i got a chance to grab this old contreversial machine for 70 $ , no money!
it seems real clean. but no way to test it, the cable between the power supply unit to the machine is missing.
i researched a bit and it seems like the power unit itself provides different voltages to different parts...
yup..thats the issue pretty much. when i engage the dbx switch on my tascam 234 it makes the recording murky as hell, drenched in low freqs, unusable in any way. maybe some calibration is needed?
hola
My tascam 234 i got on ebay finally arrived today.
Im a bit confused about it after testing it..iv'e got a few tapes i have recorded on my akai mg614 (on double speed). And as far as i know the 234 runs on double speed only.. it seems that the tascam plays it on regular speed :confused...
been spoted on a flea market
the guy wants 100$
the units turns on, all lights works,
the door cover misses the plastic part but the mechanism seems to be there (can't be properly closed tho), but the inside is what makes me worry..lets put aside the oily mess there, it seems to miss some...
hi you guys
this question came up in my mind while shopping for cassettes and lp's on Ebay.
So,some labels reissuing cassettes, lp's are reissued like crazy, and a lot of "new" music coming out on lp's too.
But, if we put aside the fun of just playing cassettes and lp's, if it has been produced...
I bought a good condition 234 (being shipped atm) , and i have two old peavey mixers. (600s mk1, md bii).
Im not sure wether it'll be enough to start recording with? I mean im pretty sure the mixers dont have pre's but not sure bout the 234 .
Do i need to buy a seperate pre- unit?
Thanks !
well, i got this old piece from my dad:
seems like it does have tape ins/tape out in the back.
i wanna connect it to my AKAI MG614 tape recorder, and to use it while recording. so i guess it goes somewhere here:
im not sure if its even possible?
thank you
random noob.
well i couldn't resist it and i got a good condition AKAI MG614 today. paid like 350$ for it, i live in israel and the market here is tiny. probably its one of 5 units around here lol.
thank you all
hello folks. after some consultation here i decided to go with an old tascam 246. but after checking some prices on ebay - gee!
the good ones starting at around 500-600 USD. non-operating ones for 100USD and more. and as i have no electronical knowledge, that would be an expensive...
Hey there im a bout to purchase the Akai 1710W Tape. im not sure how to properly set it up tho. This tape has a preamp and a wierd 5-pin xlr input in the back.
does it mean that i can use it without a mixer? would it supply my condenser mic (adk vienna) with 48+ if ill find the right 3pin to 5...
Hi friends
So i started to record a few demos of my song with a low cost gear i borrowd from my friend. A dynamic 'samson' mic and a chinese soundboard. Its good for now, im not looking to buy my own gear right now.
So..im having some troubles with trying to get that mellow, soft sound for my...
So it sounds like the perfect newbies question. But im havin real hard times to understand the meaning of having a 4 track device or a 2.
Long story short, i'm looking for a handheld device to record my music. I came across 2/4/6 track devices.
Does 4-track necceserly means that my music will...
So i have this dream of havin' a nice RV to travell across country. Then i thought to myself how genius it woul'd be to combine a recording studio with it. With my budget i could get maybe a late 80' to mid 90' RV ( econoline/fleetwood).
But a lot of questions comes with this idea..i'll try to...
Hello guys
i'm looking for an affordable MIDI controller for my home studio.
After some research i found that Hammer-action MIDI keyboards are pretty rare and come only on an 88-keys versions.
Im not a proffesional pianist but i do need those dynamic sounds for my music. Primarly dynamic...
Hi Everyone
So i'm starting my quest of building a home studio in a limited budget.
Im pretty sure that i'll take a BLUE baby bottle as a main mic' and an Encore 200 as a second one.
Now I have to decide on a soundcard.
People recommended me on the impect twin by TC and also on the cheaper...
