I've been wondering if I should use the same powder on my flatwound guitar strings as on the roundwounds. I was also going to try some cornstarch on the rounds, to see if it works better than talcum powder. Anyone? :confused:

I've been happy with the 2488's on-board preamps, but if I wanted to use a high-quality analog pre, how would I do that? Just keep the 2488 input channel pad level zeroed and let the pre do the amplification?

Hey, you pickup gurus - I have a guitar with two P-90s that are "unmatched" - that is, they are (theoretically) identical and the bridge pickup is not wound hotter to compensate for its position. The bridge PU output sounds a bit weak compared to the neck pickup so I assume that the solution...

It's a MkI 2488 but the version shouldn't matter. The question is: Due to its having a hard drive in it, does it necessarily have to be positioned flat? Or could I mount it an an angle? I'm getting some new gear for my home recording setup and I'm thinking about mounting it above the table...
