Not sure, I've had that happen. It can be a few things. You have to inspect it, to find out what's making it tilt. In general pickups aren't meant to be raised real high. Sometimes you have to find another solution like putting in a hotter pickup if you want more output., or if it's a fender...

If you want to add color I would look into a 1073 preamp clone, more than a colored microphone. I've had a few, I have the Golden Age Premiere 73 right now, I love it.

This is a Telecaster I just finished building, I'm not keeping it though. Its up 4sale on Reverb. The fingerboard is natural maple. The body is alder, painted acrylic red like the 50's Fenders.

Rupert Neve, A pioneer of the recording console has passed away. I've always loved the Neve sound. Many of my favorite records were recorded on Neve consoles. I've had the pleasure of recording and mixing on a Neve console and I've owned several 1073 clones of which I'm buying another one now.

Thanks Steve, I accidently exported the Master using a low MP3 bit rate and the Master is over cooked. The vocals were recorded using a U47 (tube) clone through a Warm Audio 1073 very hot. So they are quite saturated. Listen to this Mp3 and tell me if it still sounds un-acceptable.

I feel like I got pretty lucky I found an sE z5600a MK II in mint condition for $475.00 on Ebay and it was also the newer model. The mic sells for a grand. So deals are out there if your patient. I also changed the tube which made it a bit smoother. Its basically a U47 clone. I love the mic.

So taking all the suggestions so far I made a new track/mix. I could only advance the drums about 1/256 of a beat more or it sounded off. A few of the Drum fills did however sound better at a bit more. I lowered the bass 1.5db. I lowered the drum fills because I agree they sound a bit fake for...
