SOLVED: Yamaha TX802: "Trap Error!" (WTF is it and how do I fix it?)

Yeah. I'm going to pick up my ARP from the shop sometime this week, and I'll ask the dude there about it. I did buy the latest firmware ROM from a guy on Ebay, current version is 1.1 latest is 1.5. That should come in about a week or so. (Hopefully, thanks Vlad....)

SOLVED: Yamaha TX802: "Trap Error!" (WTF is it and how do I fix it?)

I saw that, thanks. Also got a response on the DX-7II/TX802 FB group explaining a trap error from a computer software perspective. I'm going to hook back the Delta 2496/ WinXP box and see if I get the consistent trap error from the DAW transport stopping. I said above, but now I can't recall if...

SOLVED: Yamaha TX802: "Trap Error!" (WTF is it and how do I fix it?)

Thanks. I tried that. Also, eliminated everything but the TX802 so Kurzweil > Behringer Uphoria > TX802 same issue. Also, with a M-Audio Keystation directly connected to the TX802. "Trap Error!"

SOLVED: OT: Yamaha TX802 "Trap Error!" Any idea WTF this is?

I know it's off topic, but folks here tend to know more of the technical side of things. Can't play this with a MIDI keyboard (get that error). Can use it with a MIDI interface and can play it, but it will crash to that error after. e.g. you stop the recording on the DAW. (Using Cakewalk) this...

SOLVED: Yamaha TX802: "Trap Error!" (WTF is it and how do I fix it?)

TX802. plays fine through MIDI. However, once you record a sequence and stop recording, it gives "Trap Error!" and won't respond. Requiring a power cycle. This is with two different MIDI interfaces Win 10, Behringer Uphoria, latest Cakewalk by Bandlab -or- WinXP, Delta 2496, Cakewalk 9 MIDI...

    Hardware or Software Synth?

Prices on "the real thing" are outrageous, or even the Korg FS 2600. But if you consider the cost of an interface (US$200?) and say the Arturia 2600 (US$150) vs the Berhinger 2600 (US$600) you're really not doing that much better in software for the sacrifice of having actual knobs/sliders.

    6418 tube DI

Oh, and I believe I checked re: the correct polarity on the heater. I don't think I had much choice in the filiment resistor in order to use one power supply for both plate and filament I have to drop quite a bit to get the 1.25 volt filament.

    Cherry Audio ARP Quadra VST

For US$39 it's worth checking out. Demo is also available that interjects noise every few minutes. I haven't done a side by side with the real thing, but it mimics the look including the plethora of on/off switches and sliders. That can get a little cumbersome with a mouse, but it comes with a...

"Fader lube" discussion: do it, don't do it, use this, use that, or?

Thanks. I guess I could pull the whole board out and tilt it upside down to do as you're suggesting on the rinse cycle. The stuff I got loaned comes literally in a plain white can. I actually shot a video, as these Avatar sliders were so stiff I was afraid I'd break one, the stuff was amazing...

"Fader lube" discussion: do it, don't do it, use this, use that, or?

So posting here, but this is applicable also to synths, especially ARPs and Crumars that use sliders instead of knobs. Now hopefully this isn't a car polish on analog tape worthy flame war, but curious as to people's opinions and their preferred stuff. I've heard everything from use nothing, to...

    microphone-parts.com

I know the thread was specifically about SDCs and not LDCs. Royer also had a mod for the MXL (can't remember the model now) that used the same 5840 tube in a cathode follower configuration, so less parts in the mic. Also, (and I think he went by mshilarious but isn't around any more AFAIK) he...

    microphone-parts.com

I've done some mic modding and built a couple of Royer style mics from scratch using cheaply sourced MXL bodies. I don't want to knock microphone-parts.com, but the prices do seem a bit steep. One thing he has is an authentic K87 (with isolated backplanes) for a reasonable price. You can get a...

    Another Ampex Analog Recorder...Technically Speaking

reminds me of something from the Outer Limits (the Galaxy Being!) That's a neat rack mount 'scope. What are the other three boxes below it? I'm trying to kick the gear acquisition habit, but this looks pretty cool.

How can I use these cheap "RK87" capsules?

That's odd. Did you try swapping the capsule leads? That solved an issue I was having on the same mic (with the K47 knock off.) Also, make sure the connections at the board are very clean. You may want to clean the teflon standoff with 99% isopropyl and resolder, or even open air it to the FET...

How can I use these cheap "RK87" capsules?

Did you see that other link for the "direct connect mod?" You could also use those and make an "Alice" mic from scratch, get a cheap NW or BM800 for like $15 off eBay, and then get one of these: https://hlpimpedalice.wordpress.com/ Link to the PCB is in the article as is a BOM from Mouser. It...

How can I use these cheap "RK87" capsules?

See this thread too: https://homerecording.com/bbs/threads/mxl-v63m-modded-a-13-impulse-buy.402206/ This tells you how to do the "direct connect mod" to eliminate the coupling capacitor.

How can I use these cheap "RK87" capsules?

I'd post this also in the DIY section and I'd also query over at GroupDIY. I think "RK87" is the brand name of "microphone-parts.com" I don't know if he's actually trademarked it, so these aren't actually "RK87" or even RK67 (the 87 has isolated backplates and four terminals.) I have used some...

Multiple Tape Decks and Tracks - mixer connections

I had a couple of normalized patchbays so that the buss outs went to a MSR-16 'normalled' and then the other decks had their own patch points, and I could break the normal and patch to the other two. Same on the tape returns. But, for me, the flexibility and gear glut leads to inertia, and I...
