Do p-basses reject noise better than j-basses?

Hey all, while trying to solve a noise issue with my jazz, I started reading about the differences in jazz and precision pickups. The jazz is a single coil, which naturally picks up more noise than a hum bucker for example. But it’s not clear to me what the p bass uses- a split single coil which...

    Mars Final

Are there high and low shelf boosts by chance? It seems like the mids are kind of small in comparison. It might be making the guitars and some of the percussion sound a little shrill.

    Singer songwriter type style accoustic

I think the second version is a big improvement. The guitars seem a little bass heavy still though, and the compression feels a little constricting. There’s a limiter or automation causing the song to waver in volume in parts. The vocal kind of drops out in places, like the ends of verses. Might...

Mix my Reaper project, want to try it?

Nice setup! Yeah I have an interface that outputs multiple channels to the mixer, then I just record the 2 track out of the mixer. I’m actually not picky about digital vs analog, it’s just the features I want are only on the analog mixers I’ve found. Do you tend to alternate between tape and...

Mix my Reaper project, want to try it?

It’s a soundcraft mixer, I heard some demos of it on YouTube and picked up a used one. Very happy with it so far!

Mix my Reaper project, want to try it?

Not a lot of drastic changes, just little things that added up I think. I got a new board recently that makes things nice and fat, I don’t know how actually. But there is like a +6dB low shelf on the main drums. :) Some other little cuts and boosts. Drums go into a vca compressor. You noticed...

Mix my Reaper project, want to try it?

Here’s a version, this beat is pretty cool! Hadn’t heard of the fantom before, sounds like it’s got some great tones.

    DP-24 "EXPORT FAILED" message

I just had this problem today. Decided to necro this thread to say that I couldn’t find the video mentioned, but I was able to fix the problem for this export. I had to export tracks in small batches till I found the two that were failing (it was a stereo track.) Then I went into the song and...

    Soldering iron wattage?

A 40 watt works fine for me when working with older lead solder. The silver stuff though (newer, less hazardous type), I can’t even melt that. So I’d recommend more than 40. Cables and guitars seem to still use through-hole components in my experience, so they’re easy to work on. Pedals are...

    used mic/pre

This thread has the most impressive response gap on the internet. :D To contribute, I’ve had nothing but good experiences buying used gear from individuals. It’s when they do it as a business that you get garbage sellers. If I see “Bob’s Basement” with 5 stars on reverb, I know I’m good. If...

    PreSonus shipping delays?

That’s insane crows! You are much more patient than I, I’m trying to get this order cancelled now. I found it used somewhere else and they’re ready to ship.

    PreSonus shipping delays?

I called presonus and got status on my order since the dealer couldn’t be bothered. They said their warehouses are backed up two-three weeks for this interface. The dealer (“The FX Chain”) suuuucks, they couldn’t make that phone call themselves?

Are there any rack mounts for a keyboard stand?

I think I got the same cheapo tier expansion as you. Surprisingly good quality. Would have been nice to have gotten some kind of instructions but dang it was affordable. And I did manage to figure it out. :D

    PreSonus shipping delays?

I ordered an audio interface on reverb over the weekend. It still hasn’t shipped yet so I messaged the seller, and they said PreSonus is shipping it direct. But they’re having delays due to covid and “having to move between facilities”. Has anyone else experienced any shipment delays with...

Help!!, Behringer Truth B3031A speaker turns off after a minute

I’ve had those monitors. They turn themselves off if you play too low an input into them for long enough. (Not silent, just low volume.) I wonder if the one monitor isn’t detecting signal properly. Edit: sorry for the thread necro, hope you got it all sorted out.

simple standalone "portastudio" for home recording

That’s a really good point, assignments are easy on dp24. There is only one DI input but that hasn’t been much of a problem so far.

Tonight, the Iozotope mastering assistance suggested no EQ changes

I just go over the part with the most instruments involved. If it’s okay there I figure it’ll kind of balance out. I’m actually not too picky. I also notice it likes to add a lot of sub if you let it. I’m not sure what they use for reference but it does seem a bit bass heavy. I wasn’t worried...

simple standalone "portastudio" for home recording

I’m sure OP has moved on from this thread, but I wanted to share my two cents. I also use the dp-24sd and I really enjoy it. It lets me spend time recording, not dealing with notifications and positioning windows and all those obstructions that come with the computer. One of my favorite things...

    Limiter/Compressor WHILE Recording?

I often compress, eq, etc while tracking, to me it feels easier to mix in the end. And it’s nice being able to monitor a processed vocal with no/low latency. You could just go mic->pre-amp->compressor->interface. You want a pre-amp first so the signal is line-level for the rest of the chain...
