    Mixing Meter

I bought a used Dell computer with Windows 10 and downloaded Reaper. I want to eventually use it to record on. But, I also thought I'd remix my last songs, try to get better mixes and remember what to do with music. Years ago someone here (I can't find the thread) mentioned a meter (or...

    A New Tactic

I'm going to set it up and give it a shot. Though I have to be honest. I barely touch my guitar anymore. I don't think it misses me.

    A New Tactic

Besides my myriad of normal problems, I might be giving the wrong impression of how loud I'm going to be playing my home studio (when I eventually, if ever, decide to record again). I'm not as much worried about bothering my wife. Because I've always recorded at night after she goes to bed...

    A Year and Nothing!

This TH passed inspections with the wiring exactly the way it is. Go figure.

    A Year and Nothing!

This TH was built in 1997 and it passed all inspections. It's one of the first in the neighborhood. My wife's mom had nothing done. Maybe PA has lighter regulations than everywhere else. I look at it, and I think it's a huge mess. Apparently not for PA.

    A Year and Nothing!

Regarding the floor joists; I had to look up what they were, and I can still honestly say "I have no idea."

    A Year and Nothing!

I procrastinate. I have my movie theatre in the attic. I've been using that for almost a year. I don't have to put it loud for it to be loud in the room. You can hear it down the two flights of stairs, yet miraculously when you step away from the stairs, the sound can't be heard. I still want...

    all the lies

I have no problems asking questions. It's understanding the answers where I lack. You must be an extremely nice person to have others willing to help you learn. As the old saying goes "Good things happen to good people."

    all the lies

I know nothing about nothing. But, I say a sincere THANK YOU to anyone who is kind enough to pass on information for free. I've been in too many rooms where someone will say "I know how to do that." and when asked "HOW?" They respond "I'm not telling you. I had to go to school to learn that."...

    AutoTune LIVE

As a person who is in the music business, I find it incredible that you think faking a vocal for an audience is OK. It's not. It's the problem with modern music. In the studio a band should do everything they can to bring the song to life. To make it, all it can be. No one has an issue with...

    AutoTune LIVE

She is one of the most humble, I can't believe people like me, singer songwriters I've ever met. When she says Thank You, and gives praise, she means it from the bottom of her heart. She was up there panicking. I did once. My guitar went out of tune, and I need a tuner to tune. Common sense...

    AutoTune LIVE

I sincerely did not know auto tune could be applied at a live performance. This video goes through Michael Buble's poorly autotuned performance on a live morning talk show. He was going to compare it to his live MSG performance. But, it turns out, autotune was being used there also. It's...

    $60 Snare

I believe that's all that really matters. There isn't an artist alive that has every person as a fan. Imagine if someone came around that 10% of the world population said "That's Magnificent". It would be a miracle. Music is one part of the success equation. Promoting/Marketing is the bigger...

    Home Drum Studio - Soundproofing

Stupid question: My basement has a concrete floor and concrete walls. If I used a real bass drum, besides the sound traveling up through the crap paste board floor into the rest of the crap TH, would it also go through concrete walls? The only time the neighbors heard anything through the...

    Cascio WK 3300

Enjoy it. I'm still playing with mine. I haven't even figured out which button moves the sounds up and down.

    $60 Snare

I bought an entire drum set (probably from the 70s) for $50. I used it on some songs. ANYTHING can work, if you make it work. I've gotten in trouble for saying this, usually because some people feel if you don't have the best, you can't make anything worthwhile. Which isn't true. A good song...

Pop punk full mix. What's next?

The mix sounds fine. I AM an old time pop-punk fan. Bands like the Muffs, Goops, Blondie are all fantastic. Excellent music. Somewhere in the 90s, bands like this and Sugarcult and so many others ruined the genre. They didn't just not bring anything to the sound, they actually destroyed it...

    Cascio WK 3300

My very first synth was Cascio SK-1. I lost it along time ago. It still SELLS on ebay. That's insane. I've played a little with this WK and it's fun. I'm looking forward to delving a little deeper. There are many that turn their noses up to cascios, or cheap guitars. But, I just point to...

    Cascio WK 3300

Go ahead laugh. It's a toy. A junk keyboard. I don't know. I just bought it today at a rummage sale for $5. That's right five dollars. It seems to have a 16 track sequencer in it. The coolest thing (I've only played it for about 5 minutes) it has the clefs in the screen. When you play the...

    Heaven and HELL!

Good luck. At least you have the experience. I mean this sincerely, I can barely hammer a nail into a board. I watched a video on how to build a frame, and it looks easy. I know I'd do everything wrong.
