Deeper as it goes (general thoughts)

The only thing I could nit pick at was the vocals seemed to not have any room around it. They seemed loud enough, but not as clear as I think is possible. Something you might want to review. Other than than, everything seemed well balanced.
 
The Space of the music requires the vocals be less flat - meaning everything around them has definition and brings them out - Now I don’t know if that’s space like @DM60 or something else effects wise - the only other thing that stands out - the Snare doesn’t sound as bright as i think it should be - and the bass is presence but I think it should get a little more low end support and brought up in volume - overall the mix is great - Almost a Genesis/Peter Gabirel vibe to it - with something like Hawkwind thrown in.

This was a decision I questioned myself, bud. Good catch and thanks for the input. I dried up the vocal significantly because I wanted more sonic edges to it. I'll go back w/ your perspective in mind and fool with it a little more. Reverb adds depth of stage - and I made it very dry and up front.
 
Vocal does sound like it's not knitting with the well produced backing track. More reverb, double tracking, backing vox? A good song here, moody atmosphere, lovely bass tone. Reminiscent of some Grant Hart songs, as well as Jane's Addiction.

Agreed. Although I missed it a mix time - and I've not yet circled back to correct, I believe what folks are getting at is the vocal sounds a bit layered on top of the song, rather than embedded in the song - and I think that's my preference for rather dry vocals coming into play. In other words, "I'm getting in my own way."

I listen to stuff my kids listen to and the vocals are SWIMMING in effects. I shouldn't be as shy about them as I tend to lean.

My soundcard that does 44.1 sample rate (which these projects were recorded at originally) shit the bed, and I've another on the way. I'll attend once I can get back under the hood.
