No you probably can't pull together a band unless you know a drummer and a bass player that are willing to give it a shot. No offense but guitar players are a dime a dozen. There are tons of "bands" on craigslist looking for drums and bass. Those "bands" are really just a couple of guitar...
You are tightening up too much. Stay relaxed. When you tighten your vocal chords to strain and scream you hurt them. Also don't hold back let it out full volume if you don't fully commit it ends up hurting.

Don't charge by song charge by the hour. Otherwise you could spend days working one one track and end up making $0.05 and hour. Make your hourly rate what your time is worth to you.

The earbuds are interesting though. I use a couple of pairs of sony earbuds covered with a pair of industrial earmuffs for tracking drums. For $30 they're worth a shot. I could use some new headphones for my MP3 player...
