Quick question. I'm looking at a SP B1 as my project studio's first (good) mic...would it be alright to throw it in front of a kick if needed? (provided i used the pad & proper placement)

My current recording setup consists of an 90's 16 channel Peavey mixer plugged into a Digitech Jamman Loop pedal. Once the drums are down, I use the "overdub" function to add other tracks...
Well I've scrounged all my funds together this morning, and I have $250 to get my basement studio really going, finally. For that total price, I'd like to get at least one good microphone (SP B1???) and an interface, plus cables etc...I already have a few cheap vocal mics and plenty of stands...
Hey there HRF, I've got a little dilemma.
I've been into recording for about a year now and I would say I have a pretty good intermediate knowledge what I'm doing, the problem is I'm short on gear to use with what I know. Tomorrow (12/23) a pair of my bands is going to be starting/finishing...
