    Budget priced B&K 4011

I know that my subject sounds impossible, and it is...but I'm looking for a pair of small diaphragm condensors (cardioid) that can produce a similar flavor to the 4011's in a budget of $500-700. The application will mainly be acoustic guitar. I've enjoyed the sounds of those who have used...

    ousting snare overtones

the snare itself sounds wonderful live....it's the recording that's my problem...as I said it happens on any snare I record with, not just my own. This is why I think it's an EQ/compression issue.

    ousting snare overtones

everytime I record snare, it seems to have a 'hollow overtoney' sort of sound, rather than a nice textured or snappy sound. This is no matter what snare I'm recording. How can I avoid this? thanks.

    Audio Multitracking/Mastering Program, No MIDI

manning, this mostly deals with the mixing engine...You're right in that a basic sound going in, with no mixing done internally, that is pumped out will sound the same in platform to platform, as long as the same hardware is used. If you perform any mixing within the program, however, EQ...

    Audio Multitracking/Mastering Program, No MIDI

I'll have to look into that! Sounds more and more like Samplitude is what I should be looking at. As for MIDI, I haven't needed to use it so far, and have no MIDI input/output device anyhow. The only thing close to MIDI I've had to work with was someone's fruity loop files, but they already...

    Audio Multitracking/Mastering Program, No MIDI

Money's not an issue with the software. This is for a professional studio, and not a home type project.

    Audio Multitracking/Mastering Program, No MIDI

I'm going with 16 channels of prestine audio, and the only way to ideally get that with Pro Tools is to step up to the HD system, which isn't nearly what I need in a system. input: Console->Apogee AD16x->Lynx AES16 in->computer output: computer->Lynx AES16 out->Apogee DA16x->Console The...

    Audio Multitracking/Mastering Program, No MIDI

Hello once again, I'm ditching my Digi002 Pro Tools setup, and expanding the studio a bit. I'll be doing no MIDI work, only audio input/output. I'm looking for a program, or set of programs that would be ideal for my use. I know a lot of these multitracking programs specialize in MIDI, but...

Thank you very very very very much. I had no idea that this was an i/o device as well...I thought all this time that it was JUST an a/d wordclock and that I'd have to use a seperate i/o box.

They were an ADDED BONUS...not the main issue... I'm 21, parents have paid for nothing. I've bought everything with my business partner, been in the business for 2 years, doing fine.

what would I use for an i/o interface though? a couple RME Fireface 800s? 16x's are only a/d converters and word clocks, not i/o devices.

isnt the point in making a thread with a subject to abide by the subject? If you want to share your experience about preamps, start a thread about preamps...this thread asks nothing about preamps.

actually if you read my original post, I haven't gotten one answer. It seems like this board really enjoys promoting their latest gadgets even if it doesn't have any contextual value to the questions at hand.

I'm not sure if you've compared prices, but the price of an HD system is far greater than it's worth. I'm running a 3 GHz Pentium 4 with over a gig of DDR SDRAM, 80GB external Glyph drive, 180GB internal....the computer can handle to say the least. I don't plan to run 'a bunch of tracks and...
