Getting "bright" vocals into the mix

Hrm. Well, perhaps I'm not explaining myself very well then. Basically, the vocals have too much bite. It sounds like someone singing karaoke or something. Maybe, now that I'm thinking about it, the problem is that the rest of the tracks don't have enough bite. Who knows. I'm getting kinda...

Getting "bright" vocals into the mix

So I'm mixing some stuff down and I'm having a hard time getting the vocals to kinda sit "down" in the mix a bit. The vocals seem very bright but leveling them down isn't having the effect that I want. Basically if I don't mix them down, the vocals are too "present" and they cut right through...

    Do I need a mixer?

BTW speaking in defense/attack of Behringer mixers. I never had a problem with my old 1602A. I now have a 2004A and the only problem is that the aux returns bleed through to the monitor channel even when they're not ostensibly routed there. It's only noticeable if I crank up the ctl room knob...

    Do I need a mixer?

Seems like you shouldn't be able to hear that. I'm thinking something else is introducing a problem. What OS are you using?

    Introduction and stuff

Hm. Not a bad idea, but I think I can't justify the extra expense of keeping the Behr around AND getting a new Mackie. I'll be lucky if I can afford the difference between the Behr and the Mack. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll keep that in mind.

How many channels do I need in a mixer ???

Seems like a lot of people here have issues with Behringer. As for me, the only issue I have with my 2004 is that tracks sometimes bleed into the control room output even when they're basically shut off. For instance, the 2-Tk input can be heard faintly in the control room output even when it's...

    Introduction and stuff

Thankya folks! I've already thrown in a couple contributions/opinions on some mixes. Unfortunately my ear is better than my technique, I have a lot to learn about how to make things sound good. Right now all I know is what sounds good to me. :) Seems like the most important thing I've learned...

    mp3 hosting? Recommendations?

Yeah, that's pretty much the killing blow for mp3.com.

    mp3 hosting? Recommendations?

Hey gang. Still a bit new around here but pretty excited about what I'm reading so far. One question. I see that some of you guys have your music hosted at mp3.com and others at nowhereradio. Do you guys have any comments/recommendations that you would give to someone that hasn't gotten...

    Critique me please......

AMEN bro I had the exact same problem with the track I've been working on. Still not quite sure how to solve it.

My first efforts (for your perusal)

I pretty much agree with the above comment on "I Never Win". The guitar sound is so clipped that it sounds just a touch campy. I actually think an almost clean sound would have suited this track pretty well, being the boppy tune it is. If you extract the rhythm section and isolate it, it sounds...

    My first mp3's

Fun stuff! As far as actual mix quality, I have a couple things to say. First, the tracks are in stereo but very little use is made of it. It seems like everything is pretty much dead center. That could be an artifact of your mp3 encoding... The fadeout on "Use Words Like Sh!t" is a bit...

    Introduction and stuff

Hi! Found this forum while trying to search for an online manual for an old Behringer Eurorack mixer that has been discontinued... :) I'm sort of a newbie to the home recording thing. I have done lots of loop manipulation and MIDI sequencing before but tonight for the first time I actually...

What are your favorite reference CD's and WHY??

Wow. I love that album but I certainly never would have picked it as a model for mixing. I find it very "80s" sounding in terms of production. Now THERE you go. :)
