    Soft rock, female vocal

Hello everyone, Thanks a lot for generous and prompt response. Please see the new mix: What has been changed: Kick turned a bit down and more reverb added, some lows removed Keys in the end turned a bit down Added extra highpass on almost everything (one instance of eq is not enough?)...

    Soft rock, female vocal

Hello all, As usual, I am quite happy with the song, not too happy with my mixing, so please have a go :) Some things I am not sure about (not sure how to fix either): • Strummed acoustic guitars are a bit too much distracting • Too many different guitar tones for one song • Vocal fitting...

Blood exchange - special song after a long break

Thanks Mark! It definitely makes sense. I assume you meant vocals lack clarity?

Thanks, seeking! What do you mean by 'sharp'? The vocals?

Blood exchange - special song after a long break

Hello all! After a long break I decided to come back to recording/mixing and would like to share a song that is very special to me :) Therefore, I want to see how good I can make it sound without a real recording studio. I think currently it sounds ok, but not great. What do you think about...

    Trip hop/psychedelic/prog rock hybrid

Definitely a good idea, thanks! ;)

    Trip hop/psychedelic/prog rock hybrid

Hello everyone, Here is one more song I recorded. The genre is hard to describe :) I hope you like it and all constructive comments are very welcome. Thanks! P.S. I had to reduce the bitrate of MP3 to 128 kbps - original was too large to be uploaded here

A bit experimental rock, tough mix

Rode M3. It is inexpensive, but not a bad mic and should not sound cheap (I guess?). It was probably a bad idea to 'eat' the mic - I thought muddier vocals would fit better in there. I ended up cutting a fair amount of low mids anyway...

A bit experimental rock, tough mix

The singer is me :) Thanks, I rarely get compliments on my singing! Does it sound cheap in the chorus (the heavy part) as well? The choruses were recorded with a shure sm57, because I wanted a duller, less toppy sound (although later on still used eq to bring top end back...). I though the...

A bit experimental rock, tough mix

2nd try. I think I got basic EQ and compression with vocals, but I think the verses (rap) are still lacking something and no reverbs, delays, distortion or choruses seem to work... I want them to be 'in the face', so moving them deeper in the stereo field hardly works (?).. And I decided to...

Jam with a limited setup (but not that bad?) :)

Thanks for all the good comments! It is quite surprising to hear that a jam recorded with one cheap condenser is not too bad of a track :) To everyone suggesting separation: since guitars have been recorded together on a mono recording and they take up similar frequencies and part of the stereo...

A bit experimental rock, tough mix

Hello everyone, One more mix for your critique. This time it is an original song. It's in Lithuanian (my native language) and has pretty funny lyrics :) I am quite happy about the composition, but not sure about all the technical stuff. Is compression alright? Any clashing instrument...

Jam with a limited setup (but not that bad?) :)

I agree to all of the stuff, but how can shaker sound 'midi' if it was actually recorded? :) I don't get this... It was a one-shot thing (the tracking, I mean), so I am not planning to rerecord. I though it sounded pretty cool and I wanted to challenge myself and see whether I can make the very...
