I like the normal one best with just the 4. But the room mic does has some nice room sound to the cymbals, but makes the toms sound too boomy.. I like the mic underneath too to bring out the kick, but I think you should turn it down in the mix.

I have found mixes always sound a tiny bit better before mixdown. It requires very nice monitors to hear the differences though. I think it's just the way the software combines the sounds.

Can I use an instrument cable to connect the monitors? Any recommendations?

Oh ok, thanks! I thought those were only for hearing what is being recorded (as apposed to hearing the session/metronome and what you are recording). :o
